Not worth the $5…
All the models on this app are pre-selected with no way to actually connect to a local OpenAI API endpoint or run your own downloaded models from huggingface. It’s like this app hasn’t been touched or updated in well over a year. This should be a. Free app, not a paid one. If it was free I wouldn’t have expected more from it. But $5 is too much and maybe $0.99 would have been more fair but in reality it should have just been free. Do not recommend.

Better options exist
The “developers” solution to fixing their problems isn’t that they fix their code, it’s to drop support for older iPhones. What a joke. They’ll claim it’s because it’s all evolving so quickly, but their planned obsolescence of software for perfectly working phones because they’re incapable of writing software is laughable. If it was OSS, I wouldn’t have bothered writing any of this, but it’s a paid app. My recommendation is to grab PocketPal or Locally. Don’t waste your money on this. Locally has a poor UI and other limitations like that it doesn’t warn you that conversations will be cut off before you hit the context limit. PocketPal requires you to understand how models work, what to download, and what defaults you should change (and their pal system is a “system prompts in a box”, except that customization is painful and json customizations don’t work). But at least with Locally my phone doesn’t turn into a furnace and with PocketPal I can tweak the things that matter. PrivateLLM however offers none of the stability of Locally and none of the customizations of PocketPal. It’s a paid llama.cpp interface with poor context management and limited model selection. Now it’s in a crash loop because the model got into a fit yammering on and on and I have to uninstall it and reinstall it now. Oh and you only get one chat. Yep, one. No separate contexts for each chat, no separate system prompt for each model. Nope. You get a limited system of compromises that don’t work for $5. First app I’ve bought off the App Store in years and I’m reminded why I stopped bothering when the bar is so low. Their best feature is a unique quantization method, but that doesn’t matter if it doesn’t run.

Models keep freezing
Most models keep freezing during download or when a model downloads it wont load and the app crashes now thinking of it any model beside the preinstalled model don’t work. Help
Not worth it
There is no updates for over a year with new Model.Bbeing paid app its not worth it. Other similar app LOCALLY is lot beterr as free app but better models which updated regularly.

Ça Chauffe! … Y’a pas à dire, le site Web est bien fait. Par rapport aux autres applications que j’ai pu tester et utiliser, c’est bien la pire ou la plus compliquée à comprendre ! Il me répond toujours à côté. J’ai vraiment l’impression d’avoir été trompé, arnaqué ! Pourquoi Apple laisse cela sur l’App. Store, sont-ils complices???

« Ça chauffe » : c'est exactement ce que fait l'IA locale. Le modèle tourne sur le processeur de votre iPhone, pas sur nos serveurs. C'est votre appareil qui fournit le calcul — il chauffe donc, et il est limité par sa RAM. Aucune app locale n'y échappe. C'est aussi pourquoi les réponses tombent à côté. Sur un iPhone ancien, seuls les plus petits modèles sont proposés, et un modèle de 1B ne raisonne pas comme un 8B. Si votre appareil a basculé sur le modèle intégré après un échec de chargement, la qualité chute encore. Ouvrez la liste des modèles et choisissez le plus grand que votre iPhone accepte : la différence est nette. Les prérequis matériels sont détaillés sur privatellm.app/fr/faq, section « Appareils et modèles ». Apple n'y est pour rien — la contrainte est physique. Si votre iPhone n'est pas à la hauteur, demandez un remboursement à Apple : historique des achats → Signaler un problème. La marche à suivre est dans « Achat et remboursements ». La prochaine version majeure relèvera la configuration minimale et abandonnera les iPhone trop anciens, précisément pour éviter ce genre de déception.

你说得对，这确实是我们的问题。之前的版本在中国大陆下载不了模型，原因是模型托管在 Hugging Face，而 Hugging Face 在国内无法访问。 最新版本改了下载方式：模型现在从我们自己的服务器下载，不再依赖 Hugging Face，国内可以正常下载。请更新到最新版本再试一次。 修复其实已经发布了，但我们没有回来告诉你，让你一直等着。这一点我们做得不对。 如果你不想再折腾：可以直接申请退款。在 App Store 的购买记录里选择"报告问题"（Report a Problem），由 Apple 处理；退款说明见 privatellm.app/faq 的 Purchase & refunds 一节。一个用不上的 App 留着没意义，退款比留着更合理。

The built in models have a greatly varied selection that are perfect for all different tasks!! The override function lets you really make the model your own.

It’s a little buggy
Don’t get me wrong this is the absolute best app for offline LLM in the App Store it’s just buggy and If you put to long of a system prompt in then it will crash
Useless app for $4.99
I saw a YouTube video of the developer describing how to use it. Followed the instructions to start generating images. The first issue right away is it’s asking $4.99 just to use it. No mentioning this on the description whatsoever. I bought it to try the image generator. Loaded some models, no button to generate images. I’m disappointed I wasn’t my $5 for a useless app.

Limited usecase
Can't download models from HuggingFace like others let you do. Purely local and has curated models to pick from.

Dope. Dangerous, but dope.
The genie has been out the bottle since GPT 1 & 2 were open source and it’s never going back in. This app has been very useful for times when I have no reception like when I went to Red Rock in Nevada with my wife’s family, hypothesized that the rocks were likely red due to the fact that iron rusts that color and the rock is most likely iron rich. I had zero reception but because this runs locally, I was able to confirm that was the reason and share that fun fact with everyone. It’s like having all human knowledge in your phone. That said, Dolphin specifically is totally dangerous with the right pre-prompt in the wrong hands. But I believe in freedom so I still deem it dope overall. 5 well deserved stars.

Constantly Crashes
This is pretty useless, I’d avoid it. It crashes constantly on an iPad Pro M5.
