No data sharing with Watch App

Compass looks good and seems to function well as a compass. But I was expecting to be able to view and edit the waypoints I saved in the Watch App on my iPhone since both apps have the same name from the same developer. Was let down.

Accuracy

Every time I place it on the same fixed edge I get a different direction. Not accurate at all . Same problem I have with the one that was on my phone . Am I missing something?

Wildly inaccurate. Use this app at your own risk but take a real compass with you. I want my money back

Won’t Display True North

The app won’t display true north. It just states NA (not available) in the true north slot. And it doesn’t show why it’s NA, or what to adjust to get it to show true north. Having true north is the only reason I downloaded this app.

Response from developer

This can happen for a couple reasons: 1) you have compass calibration turned off in iOS Settings (Privacy > Location Services > System Services) and/or 2) you denied permission for the app to use Location (also see iOS Settings > Privacy >Location Services). To display true bearing, the app needs both of these features to access magnetic declination.

Shows pointing east not accurate at all. Waste of money

Compass way off

Compass is 60 degrees off Polaris in Central Ontario. No interference around in cottage country. Other compass apps and stargazing apps work flawlessly. Interface feels dated.

Best compass for the iPhone

This is one of the best compasses available for the iPhone, I really like that shows true and magnetic north at the same time. 5 stars well deserved.

Excellent app - corrects for declination

Exactly what I needfor bushwalking - a compass app that shows magnetic north AND true North together, and automatically applies the magnetic deviation based on GPS location.

Plus it reads out GPS coords and altitude, all on the same compact display.

Basically this is not a compass.

First no magnetic north. Secondly I cannot input bearing’s. Third I cannot plan a route. 4/5 star rating I don’t think so.

Bought the bundle on strength of Theodolite

Downloaded the free version of Theodolite and have been so impressed and facinated with it that I was just back on the appstore and saw the offer to buy the bundle of Craig's apps.

Viewed what was on offer and even though the weather app was USA only and I live in the UK I bought the lot. For less than the price of a couple of beers I am going to have hours of fun. I didn't hesitate after reading all the positive reviews of others who are using it professionally - scientific instruments are just a hobby for me (and I now have both a real vintage 100% optical theodolite and a virtual one in my pocket ).

Magnetic dec

Prior review (smellieboy) is not correct / fair. The Mag dec varies across NZ. Absolutely correct for my location.

Seperately, this app very neatly solves the issue with the built in iSO compass - in that the built in one foes not show if it is reading True or Mg.

Emergency Location Within 10Meters Using UTM-B

I use Compass and Theodite from this developer and am very satisfied going on about 5 years now. Recently I have been encouraging my loved ones to place Pro Compass App on the first page of their iPhone with settings on UTM-B. Now if they have an emergency in today’s unstable environment, they can dial 911 and read the UTM-B number when they don’t know exactly where they are at. Especially import for our most vulnerable family members.

Excellent

These Hunter Research apps are quite useful, easy to use and offer terrific utility for anyone who works or plays outdoors. In-app purchases add utility and are well worth the modest expense.(This comment revised to excise remarks about in-app purchases not transferring across devices. See developer statement nearby.)

Apple does not allow in-app purchases to be shared between different apps unless it is a type of subscription. The in-app purchases in Theodolite are for features, and do not fit the subscription model (nor would we want to charge customers annually for a feature that is really meant to be a one-time purchase). Within your Apple ID, an app and its IAPs can be installed on up to 5 devices at no extra cost. That is a pretty generous policy. But as stated, we don't have the ability to share IAPs across different apps. We also don't have the ability to share IAPs under family plans (also Apple policy). All of the IAPs in Theodolite (and our other apps) were added based on customer requests, and were made optional so they do not raise the base price of the app. This was the best approach, so that we could be responsive to customer needs but not price the app too high for everyone else. When you purchase one of these IAPs, you are supporting continued development of the app and helping to fund future development. If you need further assistance, please contact us at hrtapps.com.

A brilliant navigation app

I have been using this compass for a few years now, and highly recommend it. Full featured and easy to use. An attractive interface. I especially like having the range of datums available for use when travelling. And the developer is fast and helpful in responding to any questions.

Really like but...

I love these apps. Used them for years for rough estimates; however, I wish the margin of errors were smaller. In the compass it is obvious that the margin of error is very conservative, but still would prefer them to be smaller. I would suggest these apps to anyone though.

Great app. Meh icon changes.

Love the app (as ever) but I miss the old icon/logo. The old one was much more in keeping with the app. (Love the Theodolite icon – please don’t change that one).
