5 stars in good faith

Before my review, and I know it’s on the pipeline, but I want to share that I am eagerly awaiting the quickshape tool addition to ProCreate Dreams. To me, it would complete the experience. I use both apps daily for work, and they have proved to be the utmost enjoyable, reliable experience so I am giving a well deserved 5-stars for the savage team.

I’ve used so many animation programs/ apps throughout the years and never felt like one fit me on my journey from traditional to digital art. A big reason I wanted to get into digital art was to travel/create without having to lug around, or invest in paper, paints, or tools. The problem was I wanted it to be portable, and to feel like doodling in a notebook rather than on bulky computers, laptops. There were drawing tablets before then, but to keep it the main thing, there were too many caveats for my situation. I wanted something simple, and not cluttered with seemingly endless tools. Procreate to me was a powerful, yet minimalistic app that checked off everything. I love that I can head out in the backyard at sunrise, with just my iPad and pencil; yet have any color, tool, and unlimited paper at my disposal. The interface seriously feels like home, it’s enjoyable to draw in.
Procreate dreams has done such a great job taking animation to the next level. It has the familiar feeling of animating with Procreate, but yet a unique ProCreate Dreams experience. I love that you can now add audio, multiple tracks, layers within tracks, as well as all the new incredible brush selections. This latest version has been so smooth, I appreciate the time that went into creating it!

Hi ParappaSan! Thank you for taking the time to leave such a wonderful 5-star review. Reviews like this make our day! We are grateful for your love and support 💖 Our Development team is working on the QuickShape feature, and we will try to release it as soon as we can 😃

Good but glitchy

It runs smoothly however when I import my drawings from procreate to animate I had issues with the groups it could not get me out of drawing mode and I couldn’t warp my individual layers in dreams no matter how many times I tried to get out of drawing mode, I have an iPad Air 2020 4th gen I don’t know if myapad is too outdated

Very hard to use, I will stick to procreate

Most tools are hidden, simple things are hard to accomplish and I feel that the team gave up on this app because there are hardly any updates

Bugs

This is a great toolset

But why I can not change resolution to 4K?

Plus holding the hand drawn circle do not make the perfect circle like procreate

Please fix issues

Good but One Request 🙏

I only bought the app after the update, and it’s a great affordable substitute for professional software. Animation doesn’t necessarily require a tonne of complex features to be viable, especially if you want to pursue frame by frame animation. Procreate Dreams is a great option for pursuing classical style 2D animation!

I have one request though. PLEASE add the option to combine animation tracks! I work on multiple layers/tracks all the time, and being able to combine them would be a great addition!

Don’t buy this

Basically, it’s just procreate longer animation and you can layer animation. And import videos. The undo feature is horrible and annoying! There isn’t a copy paste!! It doesn’t have half the features of procreate. Get a different animation program

For beginners it’s ok but for others nope.

Good, but…

This is honestly one of the best animation apps I’ve ever used. Features such as the perform tool is so incredibly useful, and the fill tool is very satisfying! However, one thing that honestly makes the app very difficult to endure and strongly affects my experience in dreams is the removal of being able to draw and animate in the timeline. I wish there was a sort of setting which enables the ability to draw in the timeline if we wish to. Other than that, I really love this app, I’ve created many animations using this app.

Really doesn’t deserve the hate🙂‍↕️

This app is incredibly good and the only reason why people complain is because they don’t watch tutorials on how to use the app😔✌️ I know at first it is hard to get the hang of it but when you start by watching tutorials you will at some point get it.

The second reason is that people think its the same free animation feature on the other app Procreate itself (✨which i think is one of the best art app✨) but this app allows you to create and do way more than the free feature.
the third reason is that it is a little buggy and i kind of agree on this one, sometimes ( though rarely ) it had small bugs so i hope that you guys could give us some updates that fixes the bugs and gives us even more features that helps us animate🙂‍↕️🙏

other than that, thank you for this app Procreate😆🥳

Great so far, but a few problems

I've been playing around with this, and it's great, but I have a few problems. Firstly, my aliased (pixel art, basically) brushes appear blurry. They use alpha threshold, and should only use colored and clear pixels with no blurry pixels in-between, but they end up blurry. But they act the same with the color-drop tool, so it's a bit weird. Secondly, the canvas size is limited to what are there as presets. I use a smaller platform a lot to post my animations, but they only use a specific resolution (4x3, but a low resolution) and the closest resolution will lose a LOT of detail if I imported anything into it. Overall, it's a great program with a similar complexity to the counterpart drawing program. I'd recommend for you, if you are looking for an animation program, to use the standard Procreate app first to get a hold on the reigns, then start using Procreate Dreams. I'd been using Procreate for around 6 months, and it really helped me because the art program I used before was THE WORST. It's pretty complex, though, and I genuinely got art block because there isn't really a clear way to use a lasso tool. Anyway, These are just my thoughts! I hope I helped you make a decision in whatever program you're planning on using :D

Response from developer

Hey there - thanks for leaving us a review and taking the time to share your feedback! We will take your suggestions for pixel art on board and add your votes to the relevant feature request. Procreate Dreams is a raster (pixel) based software, so when you resize a video, some quality loss is unavoidable due to Procreate Dreams being an entirely raster-based program (it blends pixels, so when modified, the pixels get readjusted too, which can cause a visible distortion or blurry effect). Just in case you don't know, you can customise the resolution of any Procreate Dreams Project by going to Movie Settings > Project > Resolution.

Oh dear:-(

It’s a bit of a mess. Can’t find anywhere to export animations to either a gift file or MP4.

Great App, Great Potential

Procreate Dreams is a fantastic animation app with a great workflow and huge potential. However, I’ve encountered an Onion Skin bug: when Onion Skin is enabled in the Timeline as well as in Drawing Mode, the Onion Skin stops appearing while drawing. If I disable it in the Timeline, it works normally in Drawing Mode. It would be great if this could be fixed. I’d also love to see QuickShape and Liquify added to Dreams. With these improvements, Dreams could become an incredible all-in-one animation app.

2.0 is muuuuch better than the last but!

2.0 pretty much fixed what turned me away from using it the first time!! Really not much complaints, Just nitpicks that would improve. For instance, letting animations loop in flipbook mode or having a symbol mode to make looping motions much easier. Another thing I’d think improve the app would be more standard animation filters (boiler,stroke/drop shadow, pixel, etc) to make it feel more full! Otherwise this app is pretty sweet.

terrible

disappointing and devs take waaay too long to add the bare minimum. i've finally mentally checked out and lost all excitement for what this app could bring, every other animation app is just better.

My favorite animation app! (Plus a suggestion)

As you can see on the title this is my favorite animation app but there are some things that would make this app the best. One thing is that you could add 2d character rigging which would make this an all in one app and also something else is add fill in patterns (you could even put this in the base procreate app).

Liquify tool

Everything is great, though the liquify tool wood be very convenient for flip book mode to be easier :3

Trying To Draw

So, I don’t know if only Procreate has this feature but isn’t there supposed to be a tool that makes shapes perfect, and how do you draw a good frame without everything looking all over the place, I love this animation app but I just want these two questions answered

Can there be…

Okay is there something wrong with my iPad or is there No circle or any other shape ruler and is there a paint drop tool cuz I REALLY NEED one because i used to use sketchbook (might still) and I need to import my colors! And I really like the rulers for shapes it helps a lot and is there a guidebook like thing in the app because I can’t figure it out!

This app needs an update 😭 but the rest is good it just glitches a little 😅🖤🖤🖤

An awesome animation app (if you can stomach the price)

Whilst it’s fair to criticise the £12.99 price point (at least that’s the price in the UK), it’s also important to notice that this app not only is a one-time payment (no subscriptions, unlike many apps these days), but it holds more tools than you’d expect for an animation software. In fact, ‘professional software’ is a more suitable description.

You can create a plethora of animation (at 4K!) with this software. There is an extensive range of powerful features to create, modify and compose an animation, including the power to add extra audio and video. It runs flawlessly with my combination of chip (M2) and art style (monochrome stick figures!). It does what I want it to do, no questions asked.

For animation, Procreate Dreams is a top pick.

Suggestion of a Timelapse Edit feature

Could we get a video timelapse speed adjustment feature? Like 2x, 4x, 8x, etc…
I would find it extremely useful when editing videos which are too slow. 🙏 I’d like to use Dreams to edit my video recordings!
