Project Flourish - Observation

Designed for Academy mentoring community, Flourish gives observers a focused way to record what happened in a session, deliver it to the mentor, and build a useful picture over time. Instead of scattered notes or generic ratings, each observation follows a consistent structure around participation, decision-making, support, ownership, and who holds the thinking. TWO FOCUSED OBSERVATION WORKFLOWS • Mentoring observations capture the situation, session goal, challenge, and the balance between mentor support and learner ownership. • GA observations use a dedicated five-question framework with selected responses, evidence notes, and additional context. QUICK TO COMPLETE WHILE YOU OBSERVE Flourish keeps the observation form practical for real sessions. Select the mentor, add the session context, answer the structured prompts, and include optional notes where evidence matters. A summary drafts itself from your selections and remains editable before you wrap up. When the observation is complete, Flourish confirms who will receive it. The observed mentor can then open the feedback privately in their own app. FEEDBACK BUILT FOR REFLECTION Mentors receive a concise view of what the observer saw, including: • Who talked more • Who made the decisions • What kind of support was used • Whether ownership was shifting • Who owned the thinking • The observer’s context, notes, and summary Mentors can add a personal reflection to the observation, keeping the record connected to their own learning rather than treating feedback as a one-way report. SEE THE JOURNEY, NOT JUST ONE MOMENT The Growth Journey brings observations together over time. A clear stage view shows when mentors are demonstrating, helping, guiding, or stepping back as learners take greater ownership. Individual records remain available for closer review. A SEPARATE GA FEEDBACK VIEW GA feedback is presented with its own labels and question structure. Mentors can review selected answers, evidence recorded by the observer, additional notes, and the final summary without mixing GA records into the mentoring journey. USE EXISTING OBSERVATION RECORDS On iPhone and iPad, import a supported past observation PDF into either workflow. Flourish reads it locally and creates a draft. Check and edit each field before wrap-up. ADMINISTRATION WITHOUT THE CLUTTER Authorized administrators can: • Review mentoring and GA observations separately • Search by mentor, observer, or session • Filter by type, person, date, and status • View stage, support, ownership, and coverage summaries • Archive and restore records • Permanently delete records • Export filtered results as CSV or PDF • Maintain the fixed mentor roster • Create one-time pairing credentials • Pair or revoke additional devices PRIVATE, CONTROLLED ACCESS Flourish does not use email or social sign-in. Each approved mentor selects their name and pairs a device with a private, one-time six-digit PIN or personal QR code supplied by an administrator. After pairing, the app stores a revocable session token in Apple’s Keychain. Feedback is delivered to the observed mentor’s private My Feedback area. Administrators retain the controls needed to manage roster access and observation records for the program. DESIGNED FOR APPLE DEVICES Flourish supports iPhone and iPad with layouts that adapt to screen size, Dynamic Type, Light Mode, and Dark Mode. Controls use familiar Apple patterns, and accessibility labels support assistive use. LEARNERS AREA Organize learners into teams for each challenge and run structured peer feedback rounds. Import a roster, assign teams, and open a feedback round with one tap. Mentors can track who's submitted, and once a round closes, review and release individualized feedback reports to each learner. Internet access is required to load roster data, submit observations, receive feedback, and view administration. Your paired identity stays securely cached through temporary connection problems.
