Pronouns by Teach Speech Apps

The biggest update to Pronouns yet, rebuilt from the ground up. A BETTER FIT ON EVERY IPAD The layout now adjusts to your screen instead of assuming one size, so nothing is cramped or cut off, whether you use an iPad mini or a 13-inch Pro. SETTINGS THAT DO WHAT THEY SAY Speak Words, Auto Advance and Sound On Incorrect all work properly now. Auto Advance also waits for a sentence to finish reading before turning the page, so answers are never cut off mid-word. CHOOSE EASY OR ADVANCED The app now asks which level of challenge suits your student the first time you open it. Easy keeps to the pronouns that stand for a person or a thing — he, she, it, they, him, her and them. Advanced adds the possessives (his, her, their) and this, that, these and those on top. This affects Level 4; Levels 1 to 3 play the same either way. Change it any time in Settings. MUCH MORE PRACTICE WITH "IT" The app had almost nothing for a student working on "it" — one question in Level 1 and three in Level 4 — so it could go a whole session without coming up. There are now twenty-seven more, all on photographs the app already had: an apple, a lamp, a rubber duck, a basketball, a sofa. Level 1 describes the thing without naming it, so the pronoun is what the child has to hear: "It is soft." over a teddy bear, against a picture of a group. Level 4 asks for "it" in both places a pronoun can sit — "Here is a lamp. ___ gives light." and "The boys have a soccer ball. They kick ___ with their feet." DRAG AND DROP THAT RESPONDS RIGHT AWAY In Level 3, pictures now move the moment a finger touches them. Previously a child had to press and hold before anything would budge, which is a hard gesture for little hands. A picture now stays in the box with the person it was given to, so the match is clear. A WRONG ANSWER IS NOW A WRONG ANSWER If a picture goes to the wrong person, that box turns red and stays red, the box it should have gone to turns green, and the question moves on. Before, a child could keep trying until the picture stuck, which meant Level 3 could not really be got wrong and every score came out perfect. MUCH BIGGER PICTURES Level 2 asks you to name the pronoun for a photograph, so the photograph is the whole question — it is now more than half the screen instead of a thumbnail. Level 4's pictures are larger too. Bigger level cards, larger text and a roomier top bar throughout. PLEASE NOTE: LEVELS 1 AND 2 HAVE SWAPPED Identifying the picture is now Level 1, and naming the pronoun for a picture is now Level 2. This matches the rest of the Teach Speech range, so the same level number means the same kind of task in every app.
