About

Your dive computer records every dive in full - depth profile, water temperature, surface GPS. That record lives in a FIT file. Apple Health never sees it. The FIT file has everything — the full minute-by-minute record of where you went and how long you stayed. Your dive computer's own app reads it. Apple Health doesn't. Proteus translates. Open a FIT file from your dive computer - exported from its app or pulled directly from the watch — and Proteus writes an Underwater Diving workout to Apple Health. The depth profile is attached. Water temperature is attached. The surface GPS track is attached as the workout route. Nothing is invented; every field is something the dive computer already recorded. The import takes seconds. You don't open Proteus to read your dives. You open it to move them across. WHAT GOES INTO APPLE HEALTH • An Underwater Diving workout with start time, duration, and average and maximum depth • The full depth-versus-time profile at the resolution your dive computer recorded • Water temperature samples • Surface GPS as a workout route, when your computer captured one Once the dive is in Apple Health, any other app you've granted access to Apple Health can read it. WHY THE GPS MATTERS Most underwater photographers shoot DSLRs, mirrorless bodies, or action cameras. Those cameras don't record location. The dive computer on your wrist does. With Proteus moving that GPS into Apple Health, sibling apps can pull the location back and match it to your photos. The most direct beneficiary is ScubAI, our underwater photography app, which uses dive depth and location to color-correct photos automatically. Without the surface GPS that Proteus writes, that pairing isn't possible. Other dive log readers and Apple Health-connected tools benefit the same way. Proteus is the bridge. ScubAI, your logbook, the Fitness app - those are downstream of it. WHAT PROTEUS ISN'T Not a dive log. Not a social platform. Not a coaching app. Not a subscription. There is no account to create, nothing to share, no feed to scroll. The app does one thing. If you already use a dive log you love, keep using it. Proteus doesn't replace it. It feeds the same data into Apple Health so the rest of your tools can see it too. PRIVACY Proteus reads the FIT file you give it and writes to Apple Health. That's the whole transaction. No analytics, no telemetry, no third-party SDKs. Your dive data does not leave your phone. There is no account, because there is nothing to log into. Free. On-device. No tracking. No ads. No in-app purchases. Named for the shape-shifting sea god in Homer's Odyssey, who held every form until questioned. Proteus does the same with your dive data — whatever shape the next tool needs, in the canonical place to find it. Garmin and FIT are trademarks of Garmin Ltd. or its subsidiaries.
