Still Solid!

10 years(!!!!!!!) since the last update and Prowl is still dependable! My only wishlist item would be customizable icons honestly, none of Prowl’s other UI holdovers from yesteryear bother me at all. Reassuring to know this app will never have “Liquid Glass”. But choice of icons would be a great add!

Perfect for notifications

Love this capability... wrote a Python script to push notifications from Raspberry pi projects to my phone, works great.

Awesome with a few caveats.

This application is absolutely awesome. However, it is need of a serious facelift. Would be nice to have a dark mode and some additional sounds. Praying the developer sees this. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Jahrelanger Nutzer

In etlichen Skripten seit zig Jahren verbaut, funktioniert einfach und tut exakt was es soll.

What can I say?

I’ve used Prowl for over a decade and what can I say about it?

It just works! I’ve never identified a failure. How much better could it be? It couldn’t with that kind of track record!

So handy

I’m using Prowl to get notifications from my home automation system while I’m away. Recently I added some sensors at my father’s house so I can be alerted if he hasn’t moved recently, or got up at the usual time. So simple to do (using Node-RED) and Prowl gives me an audible alert and a record of the time when it occurred.

Very useful

Works as advertised, tons of bindings for devs, just an awesomely useful tool!

Sweet and Sour

Remembered Boxcar in course of (once again, 12 years later!) looking through my purchase history for a way for my self-hosted mail server to notify me of new mail, found that I'd have to use another app to do essentially the same thing because Boxcar was long dead (and, seriously, no official solution for push email from a standard self-hosted IMAP server in 2024? Really?). Prowl still works, but it does need an update, if not for the visuals then surely at least for integration of time-sensitive notifications support, so it can actually be used with system focus features that allow for notification bundling and push through. Still, it does work. Will also check Pushover and Pushsafer, but there's no reason not to continue with this. Only, do update the website; all the apps on the integrations page, except for Prowlmail, are defunct! I miss the whimsy and flexibility of Boxcar, but this is fine. It recalls an earlier and pleasanter age of iPhone apps ...

Works so well

Hassle free notifications! I use with OpenHab and I’m very grateful for the developer to continue to provide the service years and years later! Love the Apple Watch support too

Perfect notification service.

This service is wonderful for just about anything you want to use. From email to projects you tinker with, sending notifications has never been easier!

Reliably Pushing Me Notifications For Years

I want the developer(s) and owners to know how much I love this app. Thank you for continuing to support it.

Hasn’t been updated in 6 years

Growl is quickly becoming obsolete. Apps are quietly dumping it. I only have a single app that still uses it via a plugin. I’m just glad the server is still working at least. But in every other way this is abandonware.

The best (and only?) client in desperate need for an update

Six years from the last update. I know it’s a free app but.. come on, just add the iPhones display size.. one more star removed :(

Old review:
Over three years without an update are clearly visible. Come on, dev, at least make it work full size on new iPhones.. I don’t think it requires a lot of effort.

Most awesome app! Where’s donate button? Hope dev can keep it going in app str.

Most awesome app! Where’s donate button seriously?
Love it so much I worry about changes in the in the app str reqs disabling it.

Hope dev can keep it going in app str.

This is the best non-commercial notification platform and app out there with a very generous rate limit of 1000 API calls per hour and website allows you to create many API keys.
API calls to send a push notification uses POST method with the API key in the body of the HTTP request which is more secure than the GET method with the API key directly in the URL which is what most push notification platforms do.
Platform is very quick to respond.
App works very well.

Also I suspect most commercial push notification apps that offer a free limited option are data mining the messages of the users. This developer has a better and mite clear privacy policy on the app’s website.

Really hoping dev will be able to keep this app going throughout any changes in the app str. Would like to show support by tapping on a donate/leave a tip button, or through whatever alternative method available.

Still going!

I feel like I have been using this app for 10yrs. I still am and am still very happy. Like a unix command it does one thing very well. My home automation uses this as its escalation to my phone for out of standard conditions. Thank you to the author for continuing to support!

Any chance of an upgrade?

Any plans for an upgrade so modern iPhone screen sizes are filled?

Other than that, perfect app, thanks.

Simple notification app but needs iPhone X screen size update.

It’s simple and does what you need it to do. But the app seems to be abandoned over five years ago. I’m doubtful Prowl will be around much longer.

Prowl need your help!

Hi,

I’m really sorry to bother you again with that because I’ve already sent you emails since years ago for now...

About your app store application, “Prowl”, but you never respond in any way...

It’s still not compatible with iPhone since the X one... I mean about the screen format, the notch, but also on the screen resolution...

Furthermore, the app is buggy when the maximum limits of hundreds of notifications is reached and need a close/restart for a good low screen resolution or a “Clear” to debug (not really great for an easy logging “history”).

Also, a dark theme mode will also be really welcome! Even for the template mail to contact you :-)

I really understand how long and time-consuming maintain an application is. But all people using “Prowl” app is concerned and I personally think those few modifications may be made in a blink of an eye.

So I wish you really consider my demand, for us, for the future of “Prowl” and all the hard work you had on and for make it!

I hope you push an update soon 🤞🏼

I wish you my best in these hard times,

Regards
