Pryglass: Tracker Inspector

Pryglass shows what the website you're on does in Safari: which other companies it contacts, what it stores and whether it seems to fingerprint your browser. No account, no analytics, and it sends nothing about your browsing to anyone. One purchase for iPhone, iPad and Mac. WHAT PRYGLASS LOOKS FOR • Third parties: other companies' domains the page contacts, with request counts. More than 100 known ad, analytics and session-recording domains are named by company. • Storage: cookies, local storage, IndexedDB and cache use, with known tracking IDs flagged. Only key names are recorded, never values. • Fingerprinting: canvas, WebGL, audio and font checks that can help recognize a browser without cookies. • Sensitive features: location, camera, microphone, screen sharing, clipboard reads, notifications and push. • Session recording: requests to known services that can capture clicks, scrolling and typing. • Your own form use, for context, such as focusing a password field. Pryglass never reads what you type. MAKING SENSE OF IT • Trust score: higher means fewer concerns. It's a guide, not a verdict. • Three levels for events: High sensitivity, Noteworthy and Routine. • Tap an event to see what was seen, how sure Pryglass is and what you can do. • Top trackers: the ad, analytics and session-recording domains on the current page, with how many of the sites you checked in the last 30 days they also appeared on. CHANGES OVER TIME Pryglass saves a visit only when you open it on a page, and only on this device. Private tabs are never saved. From those visits: • Compare with your previous visit, highest-scoring visit or 7-day average. • Alerts when, compared with your previous visit, a page has more high-sensitivity events, newly uses session recording or makes several more third-party requests, or when its score drops well below its 7-day average. • Watch sites you care about: when you open Pryglass on one, it sums up what changed since your last visit. Nothing is checked in the background. • After 5 saved visits to a page, Pryglass flags unusual visits using simple statistics. BLOCKING, WHEN YOU CHOOSE IT • Block a third-party domain on one site or on all sites. Safari applies the block, so blocked requests should stop before they load; a few background requests may still get through. • Pryglass shows what a block covers and asks first before blocking something a site may need, such as a payment or sign-in service. Pryglass blocks nothing on its own and isn't a filter-list ad blocker. FOR DEVELOPERS • Filter, search, copy request URLs and see script locations when Safari provides them. On Mac, Pause on next stops Web Inspector at the next matching call. • Copy a readable summary, or the raw data as JSON. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • No network requests of its own, no server, no account. • Private Browsing tabs, if you allow Pryglass there, are analyzed live and never saved. • Saved history keeps no query strings or anything you typed, covers at most 50 sites and is deleted after 90 days, or whenever you choose. HONEST LIMITS Results are informed estimates from rules about domains, requests and browser features. A flagged item is a reason to look closer, not proof of wrongdoing: a canvas read can be a chart, a location request a store finder. Tracking on a company's own servers can't be seen from the browser. GETTING STARTED Open the Pryglass app for a one-minute setup: turn on Pryglass in Safari and allow it on all websites. Then open it from Safari's toolbar on Mac, or the page menu in the address bar on iPhone and iPad. Requires iOS/iPadOS 18.4 or later, or macOS 13 or later with Safari 18.4 or later.
