Great idea but needs to be fixed

The general concept is excellent, but the app simply doesnt work well. Trying to image both eyes within a single video frame isn’t possible. The video is too far away from the pupil to get high enough resolution. I would urge the app designers to redesign the app. You need to get two seperate videos of each eye alone (with a closer up video at higher resolution).

Every single high-quality pupillometer in the world that I’m aware of involves separate, close-up video capture of each eye individually.

I would love to see this app suceed. I think the overall concept and design is good. I love the concept of iphone pupillometry. Please fix it so that it works.

It would also be great to display graphical curves of the pupil diameter over time.

FAQ

What is PupiLUX?

PupiLUX is a mobile application that transforms your iPhone into a quantitative pupillometer. It allows for the rapid, on-device measurement and analysis of pupillary light reflex (PLR).

What does PupiLUX measure?

PupiLUX measures several key pupil dynamics including Baseline Pupil Diameter (BPD), Constriction Percentage (CP), Latency (LAT), Maximum Constriction Velocity (MCV), Average Dilation Velocity (ADV), 75% Recovery Time (T75), Relative Afferent Pupillary Defect (RAPD), and Anisocoria.

Is PupiLUX a medical device?

No, PupiLUX is a quantitative measurement and screening tool. It is not a medical device and is not registered with regulatory bodies like the FDA. All measurements should be interpreted by a qualified healthcare professional.

How does PupiLUX work?

You position the iPhone rear camera facing the patient, and voice-guided bilateral recording captures both eyes simultaneously. The app then performs on-device analysis of pupil dynamics frame-by-frame.

What are the use cases for PupiLUX?

PupiLUX is useful for quantitative pupil monitoring in Neuro-ICU settings between examination rounds and for rapid pupil assessment in emergency situations for trauma triage and documentation.

Does PupiLUX have ads?

No, PupiLUX does not contain advertisements. The application is ad-free.

How is PupiLUX priced?

PupiLUX offers 100 free tests upon installation with no card required. Subsequent tests are purchased with prepaid credits, meaning there is no subscription required.

What devices does PupiLUX support?

PupiLUX is available for iPhone and iPad devices.
