Simple push with simple functionality

App works for just testing the push reaching the app.

The paid version allows to create multiple projects and edit the content BUT the message sent gets overwritten on all projects instead of keeping it unique

Current app is not good for testing multiple push scenarios with different payloads, not useful as a push manager/debugger

it also does not allow feedback/support/help from inside the app so had to leave this review

Response from developer

Thanks for your honest and detailed feedback — it’s really helpful. You’re absolutely right: the ability to keep each project’s payload unique is important, and we’re already working on improving project isolation for better multi-scenario testing. We’re also planning to add in-app support access to make it easier to reach out. In the meantime, if you’re open to it, feel free to email us directly at support@indiegoodies.com — we’d be happy to help and hear any other suggestions you have!

Great app

Great app but it may be better if there’s an iCloud sync :)
And you can add ability to lock the app (using a code or touchId/faceId) because prod certificates are very sensitive data.

Response from developer

Great suggestions — thank you! iCloud sync and the ability to lock the app for added security are both smart ideas, especially for managing production certificates. We’ve added them to our list for future improvements. If you have more thoughts or specific use cases, feel free to share them with us at support@indiegoodies.com — we’d love to hear more!

Grouped list functions are expected

Excelent apps. If you can provide a function of grouped list, that would be perfect.

Response from developer

Thanks so much for the kind words! A grouped list feature is a great idea — it would definitely help keep things more organized when working with multiple push templates. We’ve added it to our list for future updates. If you have more ideas, feel free to reach out at support@indiegoodies.com — we’d love to hear them!

I Think mutable-content: 1 not worked

i tried to test notificationServiceExtension, but it dosen't worked.
is there any known problem about it?

Essential!

Amazing App, it will save you so much time it's well worth the IAP. Lovely work :)

Worthless

I think it used to work, but not anymore

Response from developer

Excellent

After struggling unsuccessfully with Pusher and Knuff this app actually worked. The app recognized my certs in the keychain and I had a notification sent to my device in couple of minutes.

Response from developer

That’s awesome to hear — thanks for sharing! We’re really glad Push Hero made the process smooth and quick for you. If you ever have questions, feedback, or feature requests, feel free to reach out at support@indiegoodies.com — we’d love to hear from you!

Nice app, but looking forward to improvements (updated!)

This is very helpful to help sanity check some APNs debugging. However, it could greatly benefit from a few simple things:

-Lack of raw responses is not ideal and a big issue for me. I would rather be shown the raw response from Apple's APNs server for requests, or at least have an option to view the raw response. I do like that you have included the "reference push notification id" for successful requests at least, but lack of the full raw response is problematic for my workflow.

-The "message" section is pre-populated with an example APNs body-- this is very helpful for app "alert" notifications types. However other notification types may require a different body, so the default "messages" section should change for each notification type. For example, mdm.

-The names for your saved tokens has some "..." clipping if they are too long but the length is very short and does not stretch across that entire size when you resize the window. This is a minor UI issue, but it was annoying to me when I had multiple APNs tokens setup and their names were being clipped for no reason.

Other than these three, I like this app. I am looking forward to developer updates and will give this app 5 stars if it improves in updates. Thanks!

Update:
About a year later and I really like all the improvements! I gave it 3 stars before, but now it is a solid 5 star app and very useful for APNs testing in a clean interface. Great work with all the updates, I am really enjoying the updates to the UI and functionality. Thank you!

Hi, super appreciated you like the app and have written so thoughtful suggestions. They are all good points and I will address them in new update

It Works!

After struggling for days for a simple solution to test my voip notifications, I came across this app. There have been several updates since the other reviews, so I can't speak to their issues because I don't have any. Thank you to this developer for making this app.

Response from developer

Thank you so much for the kind words! We’re really glad Push Hero helped you test your VoIP notifications smoothly — and we appreciate you noticing the updates. If you ever have questions or ideas for future improvements, feel free to reach out at support@indiegoodies.com!

Looks and works great

This is the easiest and best looking way I've found to test push notifications, and if you've tested push notifications in the past you'll know what a benefit it is to not have to paste in the notifications every single time and thanks to Push Hero that's something I never need to do.

My only issue is that the icon size is larger than any of the other Mac apps. But honestly that's all I can find wrong with it.

Response from developer

Thanks for the nice review, glad you find the app useful. I agree that the icon is a bit large, I will improve that

Could not get push to work

After getting all the information correct I was still getting 403's with 'Invalid token' from the tests.

After testing on our backend with the same info pushes worked so the app did not serve its purpose for me.

I would recommend a better 'Getting started guide' (the help menu in the app simply says no help is available). It took me a while to figure out that 'Key ID' is the push key ID, not your developer ID as the hint seems to say.

Response from developer

Hi Alan. I have updated the app to show correct explanation with link to web resources. Also Message json validation now works better

Good Interface, but not 100% functional

The password field when using a P12 says that the password is incorrect about half of the time. Restarting the app seems to fixing it but then it breaks again. This cause the app to really only be usful for one push at a time.

Response from developer

Hei, I just released new version with many optimizations. Hooe it solves this issue

Does one thing. Very well.

I found this app very helpful when I had to test push notifications and how they behaved with the app in different states. I could generate push notifications for scenarios that would not have been easy to generate in staging or prod. And I could do this very very fast.

The only minor annoyance was that the text views don't support ⌘V for paste. You have to use the mouse.

Response from developer

Hei, thanks a lot for your kind words. I will fix that textview cmd v shortcut

Invalid Message Error

I fill in all the information and click send and I get an "Invalid Message!" error with no indication on how to solve it.

I am running the latest version of Catalina.

Response from developer

Hi thanks for the feedback. In latest 2.0 release I havr updated to show exactly where JSON message error is

It works, one bug and a lot of enhancements

1.Bug: Default test message is marked as "Invalid". 2. enhancement: let us duplicate test (I need same data but different payload). 3. Mayor enhancement let us send chained or grouped notifications (this hels to test thread-id and other cute things)

Response from developer

Hi thanks for your feedback. I will add duplication support. Regarding grouped notification there is collapse id field where you can group multiple consecutive notifications
