About

Explore seismic activity across the Pacific with Quakes in the Pacific, developed by Pierre Lebellegard as part of the work of the New Caledonia Seismological Observatory (OSNC). Quakes in the Pacific is more than an aggregator of earthquake catalogues from other institutions. Its earthquake data comes from our own processing of seismic recordings from nearly 1,000 stations, including those of the ORSNET network. ORSNET — Oceania Regional Seismic Network — brings together stations in the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Fiji and Tonga. Our catalogue contains more than 110,000 earthquakes since 2011 and grows by approximately 8,000 events each year. FEATURES • View recent earthquakes on an interactive map or in a list. • Explore the historical earthquake catalogue and filter events by date and magnitude. • Open event details, including location, depth and magnitude. • View seismic stations and display seismic waveforms with filtering tools. • Consult tsunami bulletins associated with earthquake events. • Configure earthquake notifications using local, regional and global distance zones and magnitude thresholds. • View tectonic plate boundaries without an internet connection. • Keep downloaded catalogue data locally and retrieve incremental updates. • Use the interface in multiple languages. Version 2.0.1 expands compatibility to devices running iOS 17.6 or later. The application is free to download.
