That’s what I’m talking about! But needs a few twicks.

As I say in the title, this is a very nice sounding app. The recordings are very nice, but it could use some improvement so here’s my wish list:
1. Add a tap tempo button.
2. It would be nice to be able to make your own charts and have the band follow in different styles.
3. Not all recordings are super nice. Most of them are, but for example, Fly me to the Moon the drums are horrible.
4. There is no mixer to play with the levels of the instruments. It would be nice to have a mixer.
5. You can only export the file to M4A format it would be nice if you could export to WAV file and MP3 which are more commonly used.
6. It would also be nice if you could export the chord chart as a normal chart or have a choice to view the chords in different ways normal chart or the default way.
7. You have a choice of having the Quartet playing, having Bass and Piano or bass and Drums, but there is no way to just have Drumms only Adding a mixer with alleviate this.
8. The endings have no turn around like a lot of standards do so they end abruptly and well… it be nice if we had the choice.
9. There is no intuitive way to play your personal playlists, you have to click the Edit graphic to be able to see the list you created also as you make your list it’s displayed backwards the first file you add will show up last and the last file you make will show up first. There is a way to rearrange the list but that’s an extra unnecessary step.
10. A lot of the swing files are really fast though they sound nice that speed may not be what the audience is familiar with for example A Foggy Day is recorded at 200 bpm when the most famous recording is around 150 bpm that’s a lot of difference maybe they should have two versions of the song the one they want and the bpm tempo of the one that’s the most famous recording. Like they have two versions of Autumn Leaves.

As for bouncing:
You can bounce to stems for an extra fee or 99¢ per song, it should really be for free I mean the bundle is almost $40 and each separate is $15 a lot of music apps allow stems for free.
All in all I really like it and I recommend it but hopefully they will be developing and adding these much needed features for free.

Superb interface

This app is another amazing addition to the quartet series. One of the most useful features is that tracks are labels as “in the style of”. As a teacher this allows me to accurately pinpoint different styles and then refer students to the original for further inspiration and language. Finally that can return to the tracks, mute the drums and work on the material they have discovered at a range of tempos 👍👍😄

Top of the heap!

What sets this apart from other playalong apps is that the instruments are recorded ‘live’. It makes such a huge difference and really makes you want to play, unlike the dead sounding midi apps out there. The fact that you can separate the tracks and send them to yourself is an absolute masterstroke too. Don’t even think about it - buy it immediately. It will change the way you practice!

Another fantastic quartet app

This is the latest instalment of 4 related quartet apps. This Quartet 4 continues with the same high standard of presentation, ease and performances as the previous 3. For anybody that is interested in starting or developing further into improvising and learning new tunes and/or chord changes, this app is fantastic. I use these apps all the time and the quality never fails to impress me.

Another banger

Please see my review of Quartet 3 - all of what I said in that applies here too. Just to add, I’m a trumpet player and as such it’s very easy to fall back on all the usual technical stuff rather than using practise time to get more creative and learn new tunes. There is a great selection of chord sequences here that I don’t know, and a playlist that allows me to find tracks easily. It’s easy to display transposed chords for Bb Trumpet, and change key for a full “cycle of fifths workout” on a tune. I’ll definitely be using this regularly from now on!

What more do you want?

100 impeccably played standards for £13. More grooves than in previous versions of the app and a wider selection of jazz styles to broaden your repertoire.

The rhythm section mixes will transform your jazz practice and the solos will inspire you and ultimately help you shine as a soloist.

Amazing App!

This series of play along apps is absolutely wonderful. I would heartily recommend the Quartet apps to anyone wanting to practice jazz.

Unrivalled loops!

This is hours of fun! Full access to some of the best loops you can find. Love the visual chord support for piano and guitar as it really helps you learn those jazz chords that are hard to play!

Very pleased

Purchased quartet3 and 4 to add to my existing 2 apps, now I have a total of 500 songs on tap! Awesome. The play list feature is much improved over the earlier apps and can switch between the four apps as it plays, most useful. Good for gig nights as I can set up various set lists.

Excellent new selection of tunes

This feels like playing with a real band, which of course you are. Lots of great tunes and really pleased to see not only swing standards but groove and funk tunes, Metheny and Benson style backings.
The quality of the band performances are outstanding, having tried with other synth based back apps this is light years ahead. Plus bonus even a “free jazz” track, perfect to explore that side, never had that before.

A Jazzers dream!

The best jazz standards play along app! Extremely easy to use and sounds incredible! I’ve been using it everyday and would recommend to anyone looking to improve their improvisation! Also extremely helpful for singers wanting to find the right keys for there repertoire 😄

Brilliant stuff

It’s a great feeling to play with a top draw rhythm section, and really anyone who enjoys practicing or playing with the best musicians available will dig this. Plus you get 150 classic songs in every collection - stellar value

The essential kit for jazz instrumentalists and vocalists

I’m working my way through the 100 new standards on Q4. (50 less than Q1 and 2 but I guess that’s shrinkflation!!). What a stunning app. Audio quality is top notch and delivers the perfect accompaniment. New playlist feature means you can build extensive playlists from specific artists and it will run songs from the whole series. Would like more guitar in rhythm section perhaps for future volumes? I have noticed many more of the songs are in good female keys by default.
Fantastic app for all jazz instrumentalists and vocalists.

Superb!

What was already fantastic has just got so much better! I already had Quartets 1 and 2, which I have really enjoyed playing with over the last few years. They both have 150 backing tracks in each app, and I use them for practising, playing, gigging, and teaching. It's such a fantastic resource. I was so excited to see the release of Quartets 3 and 4, which are just as good, if not even better! Now you can search through any one app for any tune, and it will bring it up in any of the apps, which is just amazing. It's such a fabulous resource. If you're an instrumentalist, you absolutely will benefit from having this app. It's so much fun to play with, and the quality of the backing tracks is incredibly high. I absolutely love it. I'm ridiculously excited, like a kid in a candy store! Thank you so much, Quartet. It's just superb, and keep them coming
