Not all keys

Great backing tracks, but unfortunately not transposable to all keys, especially not to the keys of my sheet music. :-(
Now it works :-)

Response from developer

Thank you for your comments. All Quartet apps have been updated today (24th Nov 2025) and now all songs can be transposed to any key (+/- 6 semitones from the key the song was recorded in).

Not very flexible

I’ve been using iReal Pro for backing tracks for quite some time now, and as you may know it’s very flexible but the quality of the sounds isn’t the best. However, it does the following:

Edit the chart
Create your own chart
Loop sections
Include custom codas
Mix backing instruments
Change backing instruments (eg organ instead of piano)
Change styles (even within the chart)

The playing in Quartet is great, but you’re completely stuck with the notes they play, with only the ability to change the key or tempo (not style obvs) You can export the stems as WAVs and edit them in GarageBand, but there are plenty of other sources of material for doing that, and it’s way more complicated than doing it in iReal Pro, if you can put up with the synthetic sound. Which you probably can, as it’s a backing track, and people are meant to be listening to you, not the backing track.

I’m sure there are people who will find Quartet useful, but if you want to rearrange and edit your backing easily, you won’t be one of them.

Response from developer

Thank you for your comments. You are quite right in your comparison of Quartet with iReal Pro - however, they are two quite different apps. We love iReal and whilst iReal is very flexible, it uses internally-generated, synthesized sounds. In comparison, Quartet ONLY uses studio-recorded audio of real musicians all recorded at the same time to get that 'live' feel. And, with all 5 apps (which you can buy at a heavily discounted price as a complete bundle) you have over 550 songs on your iPad/iPhone/Mac - yours to keep, no subscription, for less than a dime a song. Practicing to master a musical instrument is hard work - often dull and repetitive. We offer an alternative: why not play in your own quartet, comp with a sax or guitar soloist and, if you are a singer, you can even do solo gigs with Quartet - try that with iReal.

Quartet 5 (Christmas Special)

Quartet continues to impress. This series will provide years of happy holiday music for musicians and for family and group sing alongsi. Worth its weight in Christmas Gold.

Well worth it.

Got the others and loving this edition of Quartet. Great to have the jazz versions of these songs in the library.

Welcome additions

There’s some good stuff in here, just what’s needed for those gigs in December.
