About

The magnetic compass was actually invented for Feng Shui (风水) and has been in use by Feng Shui practioners since then. With this simple Feng Shui compass you can quickly determine the Ba Gua (八卦) areas in a room or building. Note that this App only works with iOS devices that has a built in digital compass, i.e. iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad and iPad 2. BA GUA AND FENG SHUI Each part of your house, as well as different areas in each room, is according to the Ba Gua map as used in Feng Shui, believed to correspond to nine different aspects of life. Each aspect have its own characteristics and elements. It is believed that by correctly harmonizing each of the areas within your home or working place, each area of your life will be harmonized as well. The nine Feng Shui areas are (in proper relative position): Wealth - Fame - Relationships Family - Life/Balance - Children/Creativity Knowledge - Career - Helpful Friends Note that the Life/Balance area in the middle is not included in the compass, since it represents the center of the room or building. With this simple Feng Shui (风水) compass you can quickly determine the Ba Gua (八卦) areas in a room or building using one of two different methods: • Compass Method: The Feng Shui spaces are determined by the compass only, i.e. relative the magnetic North. • Doorway Method: The Feng Shui spaces are determined by the position of the doorway or entrance. Several Feng Shui methods exists, some quite more intricate and elaborate than the ones presented here. COMPASS METHOD 1. Make sure the "Compass" part of the segmented button is selected. 2. Point the iPhone toward a corner or wall of interest. 3. The Ba Gua area can now be read from the compass: it is pointing toward the wall or corner of interest. DOORWAY METHOD 1. Make sure the "Compass" part of the segmented button is selected. 2. Position yourself in the doorway pointing the iPhone into the room. 3. Without moving the iPhone, select the "Doorway" part of the segmented button. 4. Point the iPhone toward a corner or wall of interest. 5. The Ba Gua area can now be read from the compass: it is pointing toward the wall or corner of interest.
