About
Pick up your instrument and play along.
Quietune is a music practice game: notes scroll toward you, you play them on your real instrument, and your phone's microphone scores every note for timing and pitch. A metronome, a tuner and a quiet phone round out your practice.
The Practice Game
- Play along: public-domain practice pieces for violin, guitar, erhu, flute, saxophone and many more string, wind and Chinese instruments. The range adapts to your instrument.
- 40+ built-in songs: classical, folk, East Asian, hymns, Christmas carols and ensemble pieces, with search and filters.
- Timing and pitch scoring: every note gets a timing grade and a pitch grade. Results show total, timing and pitch scores, and your best is kept for each song.
- Blocks or staff: colored blocks at a glance, or real notation in staff mode, with triplets and other tuplets timed exactly.
- Tempo from 50% to 120%: learn it slowly, then bring it up to speed.
- Note names: Do Re Mi, C D E or numbered notation.
- Fingering charts for violin, cello, erhu, guitar and ukulele show the strings and where to press.
- Beat cues: a metronome icon, or a woodblock in your headphones, with two latency calibrations.
- Rhythm practice: play any song for rhythm only.
- Listen first, with each instrument's own sound.
- Headphone accompaniment: the other parts of the score play along with you.
- Spots to work on: practice just the bars where you lost points.
Beginner Rhythm Hints
A beat grid and counting syllables under the notes, with syncopations, triplets and ties marked. Hear a bar on woodblock, slower or looped, then play it. Includes 4 rhythm practice pieces.
Import Your Own Scores
Open MusicXML (.musicxml, .mxl) and zip files from LINE, Files or other apps, pick a part and play it in the game, or read the whole score on a staff.
No MusicXML file? Photograph a score, or pick a photo or PDF, and AI turns it into a practice piece (Google Gemini with your own key; photos go straight from your phone to Google). AI can make mistakes, so check each bar before saving.
Sort pieces into folders and favorites, and move them to another phone as a Quietune file.
Practice Recording and Videos
Turn on "Record this practice", listen back after the game, and share a vertical short video with your score card. Recordings stay on your phone.
Turn on the camera to see yourself as you play, or record a video with the scrolling score. Videos stay on your phone unless shared.
Friend Battles and Leaderboards
Add friends with a friend code and take turns on the same song, cheering with preset phrases. Every built-in song has a leaderboard; public lists show only system-made handles, and nicknames are visible only to friends. No sign-up, recordings are never uploaded, and you can delete your data in the app.
Homework from Teachers
Teachers share a homework link or QR code with the song, bars, tempo and target score; students practice and send results back. No names in the link.
Ensemble Sync
Up to about 60 people in one room join with a code or QR code, and everyone's score scrolls in sync. Display only, no scoring, nicknames only.
Practice Mode: A Quiet Phone
One tap starts a timed session (60 minutes by default), also during the game. iOS doesn't let apps switch Focus, so a one-time Personal Automation, with a step-by-step guide, turns Focus on and off for you.
Metronome and Tuner
A metronome with accents and tap tempo, a tuner for many instruments with adjustable A4, a practice log with streaks, and 36 languages.
Your Privacy
Game and tuner audio is processed on your device and never uploaded. Audio is recorded only when you turn on "Record this practice" and stays on your phone. No accounts. Ensemble Sync sends only your nickname and part; AI score reading sends score photos straight to Google with your own key.
Leaderboards and friends use an anonymous device identity, which you can delete in Settings at any time.
