Has Potential

This app is not intuitive to use at all. The tutorials are not very helpful. Not worth the aggravation. For now, it is easier for me to use colored pencils and grid paper to envision my quilt design than to struggle with this app.

Can’t Access without Cash

The app raves about being able to upload your fabrics and make quilt blocks online but you can’t do any of it without paying. Not feasible for young wuilters like myself.

Keep hitting a paywall

I simply wanted to create a pattern and then copy/paste it throughout a quilt so I could visualize various colors. I tried the block grouping feature, it seems like it’s the thing to do what I want-but I won’t do it without a subscription. I then tried coping multiple blocks but it wouldn’t paste them.

Confused

This app is very confusing for someone who is just starting out. It’s very limited in what you can do unless you pay for premium. I can’t get it to upload the quilt pattern that I’m wanting

Exactly what I needed

This app is exactly what I needed as a fairly new quilter with limited physical space. I have a hard time visualizing what I’m designing. This app works great!

Wish I had read the reviews before buying

I wish I had read the other review before buying. This is just for making patterns. I can’t see how you could design a whole quilt on it. The tutorials do not help.

Block design now requires subscription

I updated the app and found that I can no longer design my own blocks. When I had first purchased the app I could. Disappointed, but I understand it costs money to continue developing a product. Would rather just pay for incremental updated app versions though than have to subscribe in order to use a feature I was able to use at original purchase.

Thanks for making this app - love it!

I was a little confused when first starting this app. Watch the tutorials and then if you still have questions they answers questions pretty fast. I used the pattern from the last quilt I did to learn how to use the app. I’m loving it more and more. I’ve been using an excel spreadsheet to try and make my patterns; this allows you to actually import pictures of your fabric so you can really see what your quilt should look like. Still have to figure out the yardage needed for each but this is quite an improvement.

Love this program

The program can be a bit confusing UNLESS you watch the tutorials. I was importing pictures and creating block collections in under 10 minutes.

I’ve just started exploring half square triangles and optical illusion quilts. This app has already saved me a lot of time. No more graph paper.

I love that it allows me to take photos of fabric and use them in your quilt design. I can actually see the quilt before I even cut the fabric. Really see the quilt.

Great features and stellar service

I am new to using the Quiltler 2 app but am loving it so far. I enjoy the quick (just a few seconds, usually) and straightforward tutorial videos to learn how to navigate the various features of the app.

What I’m most impressed with is Chris’s speedy responsiveness to email inquiries, and his incredibly fast updates to the app. I recently emailed about an “issue” with blocks not continuously rotating when you tap multiple times. It turns out that this is the current expected behavior. BUT! Chris added the feature literally the next day. It’s so special that my inquiry went directly to the person who develops the app. I feel so good about spending money on a ‘small business’ operation like this. Give the app a try!

I Like this app.

Not bad once you figure out the software. I’m thinking of subscribing.

Good tutorials and support

While starting to learn how to use the tools I noticed a couple of minor glitches. Chris fixed them and released a new version within hours! Great attention to the needs of the users.

Incredible support

I just started using this app and noticed that some features were different from what I saw on the tutorials. I wrote to the developer and received a reply the same day. He worked with me over the next couple of days and he fixed the issue immediately. I was so impressed. The learning curve is a little challenging but I love using the app. Worth trying out

Nice!

A pretty good app! I wish I could select multiple blocks at once and change all their colors at the same time or copy and paste them all together to shift the design over. But I will say the free version is pretty good!!

Interesting tool!

Glad to see there are a pair of people creating a tool for quilters. I’m working in some experimental sculptural quilt blocks. Any way to think about the big picture is valuable. Thanks!

Great quilting app!

I love how easy it is to make patterns and see everything laid out before I go to buy fabric.

A

So glad I found this app! Took me a second to figure out all the tricks but after deciding I actually did need to watch the tutorials I got it!

Desperately needed quilt app

Quilters need a quilt app for easy quilt designing; this isn’t it. This is NOT user friendly. Give us some drag and drop options that are easy to access. Quilters shouldn’t have to watch multiple tutorials just to get started. I am very computer literate; this app is VERY hard for me to use. Someone with minimal computer knowledge will walk away from this in a heartbeat. I will keep watching and waiting for simple quilt design app. This isn’t it.

It’s serious effort, like learning EHR software, but the functionality is there

I like what the app can do, but many things require unintuitive steps and have unintuitive labels. The tutorials are fine, but they aren’t arranged in a sequence that goes through the steps of making a quilt using the app. If the videos could start with “Tutorial 1: How to Set the Layout of Your Quilt” then “Tutorial 2: How to Set Blocks in Your Quilt Layout” and then “Tutorial 3: How to adjust borders and sashing” “Tutorial 4: Design a Block” and so on, so there’s some chronology. The basics were difficult to identify among the videos, making getting started a lot of work requiring much patience. I’ve been pushing myself to use Quiltler because I love my iPad and believe I will get faster at creating in the app. Most of the time though I find myself going back to Electric Quilt 5 on my now-retro Windows 2000 laptop.

The action steps to complete tasks in the app are unique. I feel like I am learning how to do simple things that require multiple buttons in an order of multiple steps in a foreign language to my own computer skills.

The block-design in this app also works on an uncommon concept of marking points to be drawn and filled in. This is my least favorite part of the app. I would much rather design my blocks in EQ or Illustrator and be able to bring them into the app than design my blocks in Quiltler. Maybe the future holds updates to this area.

Response from developer

Hi Nicholas thank you for such good feedback, i'm sorry the quilt block design tool isn't great. As a solo app developer engineering designing and building is quite the task. I'm not sure if this will help but you can also create blocks using the playground designer by designing a block there and exporting it as a block (image) and then importing it. The block designer is actually meant to make more complex blocks that support alpha layers.

Challenging

I am able to set up what I need but it just is very challenging to do the different functions.
