Activation snag
I activated the plugin, but was still being sent over DuckDuckGo as in my Safari settings. I had to first switch back to Google, after which the plugin redirected all searches over Qwant.

Ich kann die negativen Bewertungen nicht nach vollziehen, einmal eingereicht macht die App genau das was man erwartet.

Safari- Erweiterung um Qwant, als Suchmaschine in Safari automatisch zu nutzen. Aufgrund der Weiterleitung etwas langsamer, als die direkte Qwant-App (die auf Firefox basiert), dafür halt direkt im "gewohnten" Safari Browser von Apple.
Somit ist eine Datenschutz konforme und sichere Suche, ohne Tracking und KI gegeben.
Sehr empfehlenswert.

Great alternative, slow since AI push.
I’ve been using this for probably 4-5 years now over DDG or Google and only in the last year has it been running really slow. Before that though? Solid search engine overall.

I wanted to like this. As someone trying to de-Google for a multitude of reasons, this just isnt the alternative I was looking for. Image search is frequently innacurate. Searches for answers to questions almost constantly leads to websites hosting AI slop articles. And now, JUST LIKE GOOGLE, you get a useless AI """assisstant""" spamming you with every single search, which you then have to deactivate every single time you close and reopen the app. Don't try to be a Google alternative and then adopt every feature that the people leaving Google absolutely hate. God I miss the internet from 10 years ago. I cant wait for the AI bubble to pop.

Works well, minor flaw
It works very fast on my base iPhone 16! Maybe adds half of a second to the search, if that. The extension captures searches not only from within Safari, but also within the search function on the home screen, which is very nice.
My only complaint is that there is a bright flash of a white screen between when I initiate a search and when the extension redirects to qwant. This is probably no issue for people with UI on light mode, but on dark mode it can be a bit jarring.

Funktioniert aber liefert Werbung
Getestet auf iPad. Integration in Safari ist einfach. Aber die ersten drei Treffer sind nur Werbung. Der richtige Treffer erscheint erst in der unteren Bildhälfte.
Wenn also dreiviertel der Ergebnisse nur Werbung sind, dann erschließt sich mir nicht, warum ich dieser Suchmaschine benutzen sollte.

Wenn man der trivialen Anleitung folgt und die Berechtigung entsprechend setzt, hat man eine super Suchmaschine im Safari vom iPad.

Qwant le navigateur made in France 🇫🇷 que nous devons soutenir. Nous avons nous aussi de grands développeurs, aujourd’hui il faut se poser la question sur les outils que nous utilisons au quotidien. Merci Qwant de nous proposer une autre alternative à la recherche sur le web et surtout de protéger nos données si sensibles dans ce monde ultra connecté, soyons pas naïfs. Vive la France 🇫🇷

Problème d’activation automatique
Désireux de me passer de google, je suis passé à Qwant et ne m’en porte pas plus mal. Sur mon imac (via Firefox) j’ai pu désactiver la fonction IA.
Par contre sur IOs (safari) impossible. On a beau la désactiver via les paramètres, elle revient systématiquement au bout d’un moment.
Alors please, pour une réelle indépendance, faites en sorte sue cette option ne soit pas automatisée mais seulement disponible à la demande.

J’ai l’impression de revenir 20ans en arrière, les recherches ne sont pas précises et me montre des sites blindés de pubs et de popup rendant la navigation impossible, 1 fois sur 2 elle est totalement à côté de la plaque, je n’ai pas eu ce problème avec le grand moteur de recherche, je continue donc de chercher une alternative..

Sometimes I want to use Google
Just because I want to use Qwant as my primary search and Apple is too useless to set it up as a default, doesn’t mean I never want Google. It’s super obnoxious that this app prevents you from visiting Google.com and redirects to Qwant when specifically typing in the url.
Doesn’t Work
Setting this up as instructed doesn’t work. Not sure if it’s because I’m not part of the EU where Apple was required to open up search engine customization? Too bad

J’utilise Qwant depuis son origine. Je le conseil à tout mon entourage avec comme argument c’est Français.

Bei mir funktionierts für mein iPad. Liebe diesen Browser. Top Suchergebnisse und vor allem keine Schrott KI wie bei Google, das ist bei denen einfach unerträglich geworden. Bitte liebe Entwickler, werdet niemals wie Google. Danke.

Après activation dans les réglages il faut aller cliquer dans le bouton des extensions de Safari pour donner les autorisations et activer Qwant par défaut comme moteur de recherche
