Excellent app. I love the configurations to disable the frequency voice announcements that are totally irrelevant unless you’re a power user. I use it on a motorcycle and it works like a charm.

Use to like it
R4 keeps disconnecting via Bluetooth. 40 mins or 1 min is the connection time. Other apps do not disconnect.
Tried factory reset on radar, iphone, delete app and installing old firmware on r4. Still the same issues, resorting to using other apps until fix. If not well….
June 6: the connection between the phone and the radar was excellent, with the distance between them being less than two feet. However, it appears that wireless car play is interfering with the proper functioning of this app due to the same Bluetooth frequency or within the same parameters. Wired CarPlay is the only method that works without connectivity issues with current 1.39 firmware. For some reason 1.36 and 1.37 works without connectivity issues while using wireless CarPlay.

Hi @william6545, June 9: Based on your new info, could you please update your star rating now that you know it is a Uniden issue and not our app. Ratings mean a lot to us. Please reconsider your Star rating. Thanks. There must be an issue with your detector or other BT devices causing interference as no one else is reporting BT connection issues with the app. The app won’t disconnect unless the signal from the radar detector is weak (distance to phone or bad detector BT chip) or the BT signal is interrupted by another device or external force. You can verify the signal strength in the app at the bottom of the classic alert screen or by tapping on the signal button in the lower right of the map screen.
The R4 is so annoying without this app

Wonderful app, works extremely well, worth every penny. Optimized and runs better than 95% of apps I’ve used and is actually very functional. I love the report at the end of the drive; as someone who is enthusiastic about tech, it’s cool to see what it’s actually doing for me! Bravo
R4 Companion is the perfect companion to quiet your Uniden R4
I just wanted to thank the developer(s) of this app. I can tell that She has a lot of inside experience and expertise with radio signals and this app is a reflection of that. A driver that knows what they got. High performance vehicles and where and how the bogies get detected. This app was coded for admins who understand what it takes to connect fast and customize what you want. This $9.99 app is a total game changer. I now have a quiet device with data logging to a map.
My only feedback or maybe Christmas wishlist.
Built in media player that lets the user choose the preferred player and allows controls on screen. When using said media player. Lock all volume to its mode or stream. I have a stereo that auto switches from Spotify to Carplay dock mode when Any alerts come on. I tried HFP but it’s too slow between my phone and Kenwood head unit even with adjusting delays. Please add mini player mode that can allow alerts without total music stoppages. Apple Music, Spotify, Youtube Music.
My second wish is for Waze integration. Tell me where the bogies are planned based on the API and tell me to slow it up.
In conclusion my Kenwood likes to dance between two modes when selecting this app to view bogies and speed. I know she will understand like she always does and will fix this. Anyways this is the best app for the R4 ever! 🥰 Much Love and Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Inconsistent Bluetooth
If you are relying on the Bluetooth connection between the R4 and the App to get warnings, it may not reconnect after stopping and power to the detector cycling. You will be riding blind with the app unaware the detector is screaming slow down!

Works well with the R4..only issue is if you are not US based you need to change your phone account region in IOS to be able to install the app

Edit: After being advised of the one setting that made me dislike the app was in a different tab. Now the settings I was looking for are now changed I really like this app! Thank you for pointing it out from the Developer and have now given the app a 5 star.
I like the look of the app and its functions. I have a big issue with the app changing settings on me automatically. Example is the speed limit warning. Just having the app open and not even going into settings on the app will change it for you every time. Very annoying when on the freeway and get a warning of going over 70mph. I cannot find this setting in the app which means I have to change it on the device every time I open the app. Not easy when driving and the R4 is in a spot not easy to get to. Also not all the settings are available on the app. You get the most of the basic settings. These are reasons why I give it a 2 star.

Makes having a radar detector more effective and less annoying! I highly recommend it to every R4/R4w owner.

Great for motorbike
Works great and gives an easy interface to the detector. Easy way to route the alerts to the helmet via Cardo etc. if you don’t need laser detection the detector can go anywhere.

Be amazing if this app was added as an option for CarPlay.

I’ve downloaded countless apps, however, this is the only app I’ve ever bothered to write a review for. This app exceeded my expectations and more. If you think $9.99 is too much, consider you spent $300 on the r4. This enhances the R4 greatly. Much appreciation to the developers.
Good, Not Yet Complete
An improvement in controlling the R4 and worth its modest price. However, the IOS version has no options to change the R4’s primary display settings for speed, compass, scanning, time, etc. I was disappointed these major user interface choices are missing and would rate the app 5 stars if it had them.

Why no Apple CarPlay?
This seems to be a pretty good app except it be better if you could put it on the Apple CarPlay in your car. this way if you get a phone call, you can still see the alerts on your car display.
Only on thing
Love the app. Only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is no ability to change the screen colors. Other than that love it.
