Update & Support Lacking

I used this app sporadically over the last 2 seasons with a few other racers in the Southern Chesapeake Bay. It’s a great app but it doesn’t seem like the developers are updating it any longer so I’m leery to encourage others to download. I would love to use this app more and get our sailing association which sponsors 50-60 races a season to get onboard but until it gets updated to support all newer iOS and android based phones I’m afraid to push it. Does anyone know if there are better options to track racers and use the results for replaying races?

Doesn’t track

At first it worked. Using iPhone 13. After first couple of tracks, it won’t record any distance. And support does not reas their email or answer messages on their Facebook page. Sad. It could be a great racing tool. But it’s crap.

Disappointing.

Was excited that this would be a good tool that I could share with fellow sailors.

Doesn’t work. Deleted.

Needs a watch companion app!!

This app has SO MUCH potential. But they’ve obviously abandoned it. So sad.

It would be so useful to have an Apple Watch companion app for this. So you can set your phone up in the appropriate position in the cabin and then activate tracking via the watch at the right time instead of having to go down below to start it. Sadly I don’t have my hopes up for this.

Sailing the Swan

It’s a pity yacht clubs and staff don’t do enough to support this app.
It’s great for seeing mistakes of others and confirming errors or protests.
Setting up of buoys each week is tiresome if this could permanent would be great.

Great app but needs update

I love this app! It is amazing to watch your races in simulation. However, the app needs refreshing and bug fixes as iOS updates seem to be causing more frequent crashes.

Cannot log into server.

On one hand, the website seems to work well. The app, on the other hand won't log into the server. I get:
"Error
Cannot log into server"

So, it's not much use to me.

Does the job

Takes a bit of getting used to but once you have got it it works well.

Advertised 'count down to start' feature does not exist

This is just a tracking app; the Start and Dashboard screens do not exist.
Didn’t even bother using it.

This is amazing!

Could not say enough great things about RaceQs. Super in depth and very versatile, this app does everything from Course Over Ground to heel angle.

UNBELIEVABLE! Your own race analysis!!!

This app is completely unreal! The level of in-depth analysis performed completely blows my mind! Forget watching the America's Cup, download this app and use it in your next race (and get your competitors to do it too) and you can have an in depth analysis of the race!

Who was late to the start? Where was the lay line? How much of a lead did you have in the middle of leg 2? Best VMG? Who was in a wind shadow? What angle got you your best speed? Did you really have overlap when you got the the mark circle? What was your top/average speed? Who sailed the shortest distance? Did you miss the tack on that big header? We're your tacks wider than Jim's? Anything you want to see, this app can do it!

Note that the analysis is best viewed on a computer; the app records your track, speed, pitch, heel, distance, etc, and will display it in real time, but to really get the most of the analysis and compare your performance to that of the other boats, you need to go online on a PC or Mac, or possibly a tablet. Create an account. It's easy, it's free, and it's just so you can track and manage your replays. No spam emails or paid subscriptions.

This app is a phenomenal tool to review your races to learn and improve performance, or even just to compare and get Bragging rights! Recording is simple, tap the button and go! And with raceqs geovids, you can even sync your GoPro footage to the raceqs replay!

Great in places but buggy website a real letdown

I tested this app out over 4 weeks before asking if the rest of the fleet might want to join me using it. We race one-designs twice on Sundays, usually 3 laps round the cans on our Broad (lake). Each race lasts about 60 mins.
I found the app tracks the boat well and the preset start time means I can 'stow and forget'. The correlation with google Earth is impressive. However, the website is really buggy and I can't get nearly as much analysis that is promised by the podcasts.
Problems include:
Pitch and heel won't work despite numerous recalibrations.
Can't edit race properly on the same day because timeline messed up.
Can't enter laps on website.
Can't enter two races on the same day without previous race course being deleted.
Can't upload two tracks on the same day to website.
Auto detect of tacks and gybes really hit and miss...
Ultimately, I remain disappointed with the app as it doesn't deliver half of what was promised and frustrated with the company who have yet to answer any of my support enquiries.
At present I can't recommend this to the rest of the fleet and, frankly, I can think of better ways to spend my Sunday afternoons.

Best sailboat racing app I've seen

Outstanding tool for any racing team who is serious about improving. Also, great for clubs as a way to replay and relive earlier races.

Excellent App!

We are really liking this app. Our team uses it for review of ways to improve.

Attempts to force you to upload your track.

Great idea. I've wanted for years to be able to upload my GPS track along with others I've raced with and replay the race to see how well or poorly I did.
I've been able to do that well enough with a GPS, but thought I should give the iPhone app a try.
I'm not happy with it, for one reason: I can't stop tracking and just hold my data until I want to upload it. I am forced to either continue to track my boat, even if I'm not racing anymore, or to upload my track immediately.
There a couple of important reasons I might want to delay my track upload. I might want to get to a place with Wi-Fi and upload there to save on my data usage. I might want to be able to edit it on the webpage immediately after upload.
Fix this obvious problem and the software deserves 5 stars.

Race Q at the etchells Europeans

The ease of recording and sending data works so well we were able to get tracks from many boats at the Etchells Europeans - the access to replay race by race is also easy - features in the software have helped analyse our performance. So far so fantastic.

Very useful app. Just wish the replays can be viewed on mobile devices rather than only on Windows and MacOS.

Great App

Just started using the App but so far a great app to review the race and compare against others

Very cool app. Awesome data

While I am still figuring out all the features of the app and the program, so far it's been a great experience using RaceQs. The program is well thought out with good data overlays that give you VMG, various length tracks with speed overlays, heading lines that show when you are in the groove and all the data for that section.

The support has been great and the team has been responsive with answers to questions I had.

Overall a great app. When you download be sure to mount it in the boat to a level spot so you can capture heel and pitch.

Excellent tool for serious and casual racers

The redesigned app automatically records your boat's track for later analysis on the raceqs website. The key is to get your competitors to use
it as well! For longer races, best to use an external gps puck or plug in your phone.
