About

Radioband turns public software-defined radio receivers into a native listening experience for iPhone and iPad. Explore receivers around the world, tune across the dial, and follow the live spectrum and waterfall. Radioband can caption speech, translate supported languages, identify songs with Shazam, and organize what you heard in a private on-device journal. Features: • Browse public KiwiSDR and OpenWebRX receivers on a map or by distance. • Tune by frequency, choose a mode, adjust squelch, and explore the spectrum and waterfall. • Keep listening with background audio and Lock Screen controls. • Save listening details in your Journal, search and annotate catches, and export a summary as PDF or Markdown. • Use “Tune here” to reconnect to a catch's live receiver, frequency, and mode. • Turn on optional live captions, translation, and song identification. Titles and summaries use Apple Intelligence when available. • Open recognized music in Apple Music or Spotify, and optionally save songs to an Apple Music playlist. Requires iOS 27 or iPadOS 27 and an internet connection. No radio hardware or Radioband account is needed. The app contains no advertising or analytics. Listening and journaling work without recognition. Captions and translation depend on supported languages, device capabilities, and signal quality. Language models download when needed and may use cellular data. Optional song identification sends an audio fingerprint to Apple Shazam. Journal data is stored on your device. Exports contain listening details and summaries, not broadcast audio or transcript text. Radioband does not record broadcast audio; “Tune here” connects to what is live now. Saving songs to Apple Music requires permission, a subscription, and Sync Library. Radioband depends on independently operated public receivers. Availability, coverage, audio quality, and session limits vary. Many receivers use unencrypted connections; the app identifies those connections in the receiver card.
