Trop pratique !!!

Vraiment super

Loin devant les autres types d'applis

Love the New Update

The issue where Amtrak train in the US would run out of memory seem to be fixed. I love some of Skeuomorphism incorporated into there UI.

Unusable

I tried to contact the support email and use the online form to reach the developer before leaving a negative review with the bug report, but neither of those were functioning. With the latest update, the app no longer lets me even enter a train trip. It says ”Document 'projects/trainlog-3b14a/databases/(default)/ documents/users/jwBZIL3aZtPCCmuYKvFRiZGzk082/trips/
1YA6GZaPeZt9KVjbOCGg' cannot be written because its size (2,428,967 bytes) exceeds the maximum allowed size of 1,048,576 bytes.”

It does this with Amtrak, so I cannot log any Amtrak trip. I really like this app, and I am happy to remove this review once this issue is fixed.

Response from developer

Hi Jacob, thank you for the detailed report, and I'm sorry you couldn't reach me — that's on me, not you. The error came from long Amtrak routes: their detailed route line was too large to be saved with the trip. RailLog 4.0, out now, stores routes in a much more compact format, so Amtrak trips save again. Please update, and let me know at contact@raillogapp.com if anything still goes wrong — I read every message. Thanks for liking RailLog despite this! Antoine

Incompatible with UK National Rail

I was really looking forward to using this app to log my train journeys in the UK after having moved here 5 years ago. But I was gutted to learn that the app doesn’t have any schedule data from National Rail, which entirely defeats the purpose of having this app for me.

If National Rail data can be accessed, it would be most amazing, as this app gives the cool vibes of a flight logging app called ‘Flighty’, one I thoroughly enjoy using. For now I give a 2 star rating, as the app’s UI is very good, but I literally cannot use it for my sole purpose of logging UK rail journeys.

Response from developer

Thank you for the kind words about the design, and I completely understand the frustration. You're right: National Rail timetables aren't in RailLog yet — in the UK, only Eurostar and NI Railways are supported for now. Great Britain is one of the networks I most want to add and I've started looking at the data, but it isn't ready yet. I'll mention it in the release notes as soon as it lands. And thank you for the Flighty comparison, it means a lot! Antoine

Dementsprechend unbrauchbar

Response from developer

Response from developer

Merci beaucoup Arnaud ! Neuf mois d'utilisation, ça me fait vraiment plaisir.

Response from developer

Antoine

Great train nerd app

Really cool to see something like this even be usable for us Americans with ancient train system.

Edit: I enjoy being able to add past trips to see where I’ve gone.

Response from developer

Thanks Evan! Logging past trips is one of my favourite parts too. RailLog 4.0 just came out with a new History screen — a year-by-year timeline, sortable by date, station, operator, duration or distance — so your past trips have a great new home. Enjoy! Antoine

Really glad this exists!

Really glad this exists, been looking for a flighty like app for trains for a long time! It works well, however I would certainly like to see the times get better and more importantly as someone with a Klimaticket, for the app to add the option to add ÖBB trains as well!!

Response from developer

Thank you! Good news for your Klimaticket: ÖBB trains are now supported in RailLog. And RailLog 4.0 handles time zones properly, so ticket times stay correct wherever you travel, in the app and in widgets. Happy travels! Antoine

The best ever

Love it so much!! So great to track my trains

Response from developer

Thank you so much! RailLog 4.0 is out now with a fully redesigned app — I hope you love it even more. Happy travels! Antoine

Finally!

So happy to see someone finally try to build a Flighty equivalent for trains. I’ve been wanting something like this for years!

Currently the app is still a bit rough around the edges. Some areas aren’t fully language localized in English, the time selection UI is terrible and should just use the iOS default number scroll wheel instead. The travel map also doesn’t appear to have the actual line map of train routes yet (it just draws straight lines between origin and destination points).

Still, I love the stats, love the idea, and hope to see it developed further soon.

Response from developer

Thank you for the encouragement, and for your patience! Since your review, the app has been fully localized (English, French, German, Spanish and Italian), times are entered with the native iOS date and time picker, and the map follows the real railway line for operators whose data includes it, like Amtrak. RailLog 4.0 just came out with a complete redesign, so it's a great time to take another look. Antoine

It’s Flighty for trains!

It’s Flighty for trains!

Response from developer

That's exactly the idea! Thank you — and RailLog 4.0 just landed with split-flap departure times, a live countdown and departure-board widgets. Enjoy! Antoine
