About

Derby Heat Desk is the race-day console for the volunteer who runs a Cub Scout pack's pinewood derby. Church, school and troop derbies that use the same format work just as well. The app opens on the live heat. Each of the 3 to 6 lanes shows the car number, scout name, den and car photo. Set the finish order with a large tap control, or type lane times in seconds straight from the track timer display. The next two heats wait in a queue below, and a starting-gate light sequence cues the crowd. A FAIR CHART, EVEN WHEN SOMETHING BREAKS Derby Heat Desk builds a lane-balanced heat chart for any number of cars on 3 to 6 lanes. Every car runs every lane exactly once and meets different opponents, and a balance report shows the proof. If a car breaks or is withdrawn mid-race, the remaining heats are rebalanced. Late entries are folded in without starting over. CHECK-IN IS THE INSPECTION TABLE - A photo of each car from the camera or photo library - Weight checked against the 5.0 oz limit - Pass or fail for length, width and clearance - Den: Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos, Arrow of Light, Siblings or Adults STANDINGS AND RUN-OFFS Standings update per den and overall, ranked by average time or by points. A tie at the podium is settled with a run-off heat. DESIGN AWARDS Most Creative, Best Paint, Funniest, plus any custom award you add. Vote by tapping, or photograph the paper ballots and let the app read them. Printable blank ballots are included. FOR THE FAMILIES Export a printable winner certificate and a results sheet PDF to share with parents. BEFORE RACE DAY The planner tab counts down to the derby and holds a race-day checklist grouped by phase: a month out, the week of, the night before, race morning and wrap-up, with optional local reminders. Coordinator badges mark milestones along the way. Finished derbies are archived in a hall of fame, and a new derby can carry the roster forward. A sample pack of 24 cars is preloaded, so a real race is on screen the first time you open the app. No account. No ads. All data stays on your device.
