Need update
The camera 500 needs an update… the dates only go up to 2025.
Absolute Junk
Did the same as another reviewer did. Can’t get it to connect and maybe it will or maybe it won’t while you least expect it. No longer giving updates patches to fix these problems. Stay away from these RM 500 dash cams.

Dash Cam 500
Very unsatisfied now with this model dash cam. I have 2 of these and bought another one a few years back cause the mount wouldn’t allow charging so plugged right in to the cam itself. Well this was my first and bought one during this dilemma and put up for a reserve. Then the first one wouldn’t connect to my Wi-Fi on my iPhone. I thought the dash cam was toast cause of this. Got my other one out and hooked it up. And again won’t connect to my phone. I’ve tried resetting my phone, unplugging the camera to restart camera and last ditch effort was turning off Wi-Fi on camera and phone then back on. Maybe it will connect or maybe not. I’ve tried to look for updates as the app no longer has this feature and even removed the app and Reinstalled it. You may get it to connect while sleeping but very slim to none……. While I am here can anyone tell me about the garmin dash cams or any other brands? At this point as a truck driver it is very unreliable and don’t have confidence as I once did when I initially purchased the first one. Wow just think if a wreck happened and at no fault of mine and low and behold I can’t prove it because I can’t pull any videos in my defense. I gave it a one star only because I had too. If you find one of these still in new old stock at the truck stops DO NOT PURCHASE THIS BRAND AND MODEL.

Rand McNally Dashcam 500
The camera works and is a pretty decent quality. Unfortunately when you use your device (I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max) the videos won’t play on it. Once you try to access the videos off of your device the camera freezes up and the iPhone says no videos to view. However once you restart your camera, all the videos can be viewed straight off the camera. I would love to view the videos off of the camera from the device but it seems to not work at all. I have tried to uninstall the app, turn off and on the WiFi connection, and restarting the camera and the iPhone… nothing works to view the videos off of your device.

Big fail
The app worked fine till I upgraded my phone to iPhone 16. Now it says it’s connected but I can’t download any videos or change any settings. I might have to get a different brand of camera because I have no idea what’s going on. As a trucker I want to know my dash cam is working and that I can access the video when I need it.

Worthless
The stupid app will not connect to the camera no live feed can’t access setting nothing but yet it’s connected to the camera WiFi I swear Rand McNally makes the absolute worst products I have ever encountered I will never purchase anything else from them

Why does this app put a Short. Cut on my phone?? I have to go back into the App Store and find it to control things not VERY DRIVER FRIENDLY AT ALL
App update
I have contacted ran McNally numerous times about the iPhone 14s not connecting to Wi-Fi on the dash cam 500 because it will not connect to be able to see videos live feed or to be able to share videos. If you need to all they keep telling me is the app update is coming and it has been going on now for seems like six months and I am starting to get aggravated and fed up with them because I really need my camera in my profession, so ran McNally you need to get off your butt and get something done if you are going to otherwise quit jerking me around with your storyline of it’s a coming.

The App is hot garbage
I run up north with these gremlins and it’s been several occasions when the app has frozen or didn’t talk to the dash cam with saving the time clips
It’s a nightmare
Not having an app would’ve been a better option. Knowing there is one and not being able to use because nothing loads is worse. PLEASE FIX THE APP.

I used to live rand McNally I got the TND tablet GPS from day one it gave me issues. The truck is always on the side of the road on the iron or parallel of the road waste of moneyover $500. I also bought the dash camera over $200. It’s a crap rand. McNally have disappointed me so bad. I never buy any products from them again. unless they come up with a solution on their defective product.

I cannot see any of my videos that’s being recorded all of a sudden. Nothing is working on the app. The time zone is in Hawaii none of the settings will let me change anything on it. It’s like it’s stuck on stupid.

In fact forget buying this dash cam it’s just useless and doesn’t work even 2 percent of what they show, to function right you need a good app. These people will rip you off if you buy this product particularly. Don’t please

Worked fine at first. Lately it takes an act of Congress to get the camera to connect to this app. Replacing the camera asap.
Camera ok, app not
I’ve needed to access and send videos on two separate occasions now. 1st time I didn’t try real hard and didn’t care so much. This time I need to download and send them. It videos in one minute segments and I got 3 downloaded t my phone then it locked up. So I figured I’d give that part a break and try to email the 3 I had but they won’t send. Not worth a crap if you can’t actually use it for what it’s intended.

Meh
So this is my first dash cam. Figured, since I paid $200 for it I would get a pretty decent product. The camera itself works pretty well as far as I can tell. I would have hoped for a USB-C connector, as most devices have been using lately and would have made for a more convenient solution if I lose or damage the cord. Also would have hoped for an option for plugging it into a USB port as opposed to just a lighter receptacle. Otherwise, the camera is fairly nice. As for the app… seems pretty clunky, especially seeing as it is from a leading company. My biggest frustration (as petty as it sounds) is the “back” button. I have to hit it 8-10 times and find the sweet spot in order to get it to return to the previous screen. I feel like I should’ve taken the time to read the reviews before purchasing. I was considering the Garmin but the Loves station was out of stock. That was probably a sign. Either way, I am still overall happy with the purchase, just wish there was some sign of an app update in the future. Update for 5 stars.

Need to updat the app it’s not working right won’t pull up recordings off cam I have to plug up to my computer and save videos need fo fix this asap

This app is garbage. You’d think, spending $200 on a video camera they’d at least work the bugs out of it. Sorry I got it. I’d bet a $50 from Amazon would work better.
