2.1.0 - Faster iCloud Slideshows, Photo Info

FASTER SLIDESHOWS FROM ICLOUD. If your photos are stored in iCloud with Optimize iPhone Storage turned on, the slideshow no longer waits on a spinner for each download. You now see a preview of every photo right away, and the full-quality version takes its place as soon as it has downloaded. Rando also fetches the next few photos ahead of time, and tapping ahead no longer throws away downloads already in progress. WORKS OFFLINE TOO. With no connection, the slideshow keeps going with the previews already on your phone and shows a small "Offline. Showing preview." note. If a download is taking a while, a "Downloading from iCloud" caption tells you what is happening, and a photo that truly cannot be loaded is skipped instead of holding up the show. SEE WHEN AND WHERE A PHOTO WAS TAKEN. Tap the screen during a slideshow and, along with the controls, a small caption now shows the date the photo was taken, the place (like "Salisbury, MD") when you are online, and where you are in the show. It works for your Photos library and for folders in Files and iCloud Drive, and in TV Mode it appears on the phone's remote screen, not on the TV. Prefer a clean view? Turn it off under Settings, Media, Show photo info in slideshows. QUIETER SLIDESHOWS, IF YOU LIKE. A new Haptic feedback in slideshows switch under Settings, Media lets you silence the little taps you feel when you skip, pause, or switch modes, and saves a bit of battery too. Plus the usual polish and behind-the-scenes improvements to keep your photo rediscovery fast, smooth, and reliable. Thanks for using Rando!

I have really enjoyed using Rando, but what has impressed me the most is the incredible support from the developer. I reached out about an issue I was having and the communication, responsiveness, and timeliness of the updates have been absolutely outstanding. The developer listened, kept me informed, and worked quickly to make the improvements to resolve the issue. Is is rare to find this level of personal attention and commitment to making an app better. After 20minutes of using

I downloaded it and used it for the last 20 minutes. Only using the free version, but I will buy the full version soon. I wanted to create a better way to display pictures other than loading them to a Samsung picture tv. I have an old Mac mini I can use on the tv. Up to now, I have displayed with tv in horizontal and vertical modes. I really like the ability to right click on a photo to find its location, ability to copy it out. Great way to throw folders of pictures to this app and see them on a big screen. Some photos really jump out when you display them on a 65 inch screen.

“Free” is misleading

App has potential, but the free version stops playing slideshows after just a few minutes. I’m not subscribing for that.

Thank you so much for incorporating the sorting feature into the random app. I know it’s an odd request but I find the apps file retrieval speed is much MUCH faster that other tools I’ve used that were ‘pro’ tools costing beyond my price range. THANK YOU RANDO!
