No Sync Across Devices
Unfortunately, this app has no synchronization feature. If something happens to your device or you decide to switch to a new one, you’ll have to manually transfer your library, reading progress, highlights, notes, bookmarks, and other data. That might be manageable with a small library, but if you’ve accumulated hundreds of books and lots of annotations, it’s simply not practical. In 2026, the lack of cloud sync is a major drawback and one of the app’s biggest weaknesses.

Amazing but…
I use to use readers on my android and one of my best feature is the collection feature, where you can group your books based on different names of folders, could be grouped by author or genre or nationality or length, but I noticed the feature is lacking on the iPhone app, can it be updated please, for optimum experience.

My Go-To Reading App
Never a problem with this. I’ve been using it on both Apple and Android devices for years. Love the flexibility with light and size. One question: my Android seems not to have an upper limit in the number of books, but the Apple version stopped at 2150. I know - a crazy total, but I use dictionaries and references books and etc. Am I doing something wrong or is Apple limited? NOT a complaint.

Not as good as android version
I have used the android version for years with zero problems. But on the iPad sometimes it loses my place when I open the book. It often goes around 100 pages ahead.
If you want to read downloaded things, this is the app
ReadEra is really good at its job. It is pretty customizable, it works, and it’s free. If you want to read or listen to downloaded books, this is probably your best option.
There are some nitpicks I have, which shouldn’t effect your decision to download:
I don’t really like the ‘Reading Now’ section. I personally would prefer to open up to the full list of books. Not having the option has caused plenty of confusion for me.
The Text-to-Speech has an arbitrary limit of x1.75, which is good, but I think I would enjoy at least x2. Maybe it was deemed too incomprehensible or something, but I would love for more options.
I have heard that Android has a paid version, I would highly consider purchasing it if it is ever ported to Apple.

Just missing a few QoL improvements
This is such a flexible and awesome ebook reader. The ability to import a folder of books from iCloud makes managing my collection so easy, since I can do it with other software and have it all sync to the scan-folder. It has pretty much exactly the right amount of features without going overboard (though I certainly wouldn’t mind the ability to full customize every aspect of the reading view, colors, custom fonts, etc.). The ONE THING it is missing is iCloud syncing. I would really like to be able to go back and forth between my iPhone and iPad without having to spend the time, every time, to figure out where I left off. And even more so, that saves and highlights are not synced. It makes me feel like I can only read on one device, which I really don’t like, but I’m still using the app because it’s still the most flexible for the other mentioned reasons.

Text not displaying?
This has everything I need, for free no ads, which is great and makes me nit want to review it any lower but occasionally it is rendered unusable by the font becoming the same color as the background. I cannot figure out how to fix it.
