Turn the article you’re reading in Safari into clean Markdown. ReaderMD extracts the useful content from webpages, removes the surrounding clutter, and gives you a clean Markdown version you can preview, copy, or save as a .md file. Use it for Obsidian, Logseq, Bear, your own notes archive, a personal knowledge base, or anywhere else that accepts plain Markdown. CAPTURE ARTICLES FROM SAFARI Open a webpage and click ReaderMD in the Safari toolbar. ReaderMD extracts the article content and converts it into readable Markdown while preserving useful structure such as: • Headings • Lists • Links • Code blocks • Basic article metadata Preview the result before you do anything with it. COPY OR SAVE AS MARKDOWN Copy the cleaned Markdown directly to your clipboard or save it as a portable .md file. On Mac, saved files go to Downloads and can be revealed in Finder with one click. On iPhone and iPad, ReaderMD hands the Markdown file to the share sheet so you can save or send it wherever you want. OPTIONAL YAML FRONTMATTER Add structured YAML frontmatter for note-taking and personal knowledge management workflows. Available fields include: • Title • Source URL • Date • Author • Description Filename options include clean slugs and date-based slugs, making saved articles easier to organize in Markdown libraries and Obsidian vaults. BUILT FOR YOUR NOTES, NOT ONE APP ReaderMD creates ordinary Markdown files. There is no proprietary database and no required destination. Copy the result into Obsidian, Logseq, Bear, an AI chat, a text editor, a Git repository, or your own archive. Your captured content remains portable because the output is simply Markdown. HANDLES DIFFICULT PAGES Article extraction is not identical on every website. ReaderMD includes fallback handling for pages that do not respond cleanly to normal article extraction. If a page still cannot be extracted reliably, select the content you want in Safari and open ReaderMD to capture the selection instead. ReaderMD does not claim to work around paywalls or restricted content. It can only capture content already available in your browser. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No account. No analytics. No cloud processing. No server. Article extraction happens locally in Safari, on your device. ReaderMD only works with the page you explicitly invoke it on and does not need access to your browsing history.
