What's New in Reading Japanese

Long overdue routine updates.

User reviews

I enjoy this app!

I just want to say this apps has tons and tons of potential! I just downloaded this and read 4 articles, JLPT 1,2,3,4 I didn’t read an N5 article yet. I love how they are short and easy to follow! I am about an N4 level, I didn’t think the grammar was super difficult in them, granted it maybe be because I just am unaware of the grammar points I don’t know. However I do think the vocabulary is on point! Though here are some ways you might be able to improve in case you want them!
Being able to sort articles would be nice! Maybe by category or level.
I also think maybe more vocabulary translation, or even some grammar.
Also when I went to change my level you can’t see the unselected options. (So you have the six options, only 1 of the 6 is visible.)
Another feature might to be able to save words to review later.
These features aren’t necessary, but might make the app better. It might also make people keep coming back!
As a summary: the core app idea is great! I think the grammar could be more complex for the higher levels. A sorting or category system might help. More vocabulary or grammar translations.
These are just things to look into! I know just how hard coding can be! Especially depending how many people you have! Though this app has great potential!

Please read!

Great app. The only problem is the content filter and reading level of each story. In Japanese, N5 is the beginner content and N1 is the most advanced content.

Very helpful and works well

It’s free and has a lot of articles to read each day with a backlog to catch up on. Articles are levelled by JLPT which is good. The app has a good interface and is easy to use.

I experienced crashes when trying to save photos (as I want to use them on Anki cards). Apart from that, it seems great.

Unusable

Unable to use upon opening the app received a popup to set reminders and after that just a black/blank screen. Reopening and reinstalling didn’t work also with or without wifi also didn’t help. On an iPhoneXR running iOS 14.6.
