Just a simple, Clean, and beautiful app to display markdown files

Simple and it works

My experience so far has been great. It just opens the file and renders it. Seems lightweight. Exactly what I was looking for.

THIS is a markdown viewer

Other viewers try to do too much (editing) while doing too little (being ugly). This is the one. It has a “recent” list, it has a table of contents, and it displays rendered markdown. Its default styles are similar to GitHub’s (nice-looking and readable) and supports dark and light modes. That’s literally all you need. The only downside is I can’t throw money at the developer for it.

Really great rendering, but buggy when offline

I really want to love this. I have a lot of .md files I need to quickly open and use as reference. But when I don’t have an internet connection, I get a spinning wheel in the rendering frame. The only way I have found to fix this is to manually delete all the files in ~/Library/Containers/app.readmd.readmd/ and re-launch the app. Hope this gets some bug fixes in the future.

Response from developer

Hi MK500 — developer here. Thank you for the precise report: you diagnosed it exactly right. The old version's rendering pipeline could stall waiting on the network, and stale state in the container could keep it stuck — which is why your delete-and-relaunch workaround worked. That whole architecture is gone now: this week's 2.0.0 is a ground-up native rewrite, and rendering is fully local — offline works completely, no spinner, no container surgery. Your recents and settings carry over in the update. Quick reference reading of .md files is exactly what it's built for, so I'd love for you to give it another shot — and if anything still stalls, reach me via the support link here and I'll fix it fast. If it earns it, an updated review would mean a lot. — Pavel

My favorite Markdown reader so far. Super tidy!

This app rocks and I love the iOs version, too. It’s wonderful and beats most of the established players on sheer aesthetics.

A great quick markdown viewer

This is a nice markdown file viewer, opens quickly and renders the markdown I expect, with the ability to see content outline for navigation and some search functionality as well. Looking forward to seeing where the product goes in the future.

Exactly what i was looking for!

I like having the AI output md files so it’s both human and AI friendly to read. But when I’m on my phone notepad sucks to try and read them. This made it clean and formatted as the AI overlord intended. Just like using Xcode or similar apps on my laptop. Thanks!

Works as advertised

It’s a basic Markdown reader which is all I wanted. Fills my needs exactly.
