This claim is simply incorrect. We are recording every ad using the app. The app works exactly as shown in the ads, and every feature demonstrated is part of the actual product, nothing is simulated or misrepresented. Please reach out to contact@ocule.dev so we can help figure out what went wrong!

This is not normal app behavior, and this is the first report we’ve received of this specific issue. PDF imports are a core part of Readrrr and normally work with the same reader controls and customization options as the preloaded texts. Please reach out to us at contact@ocule.dev with your device model, iOS version, and, if possible, the PDF that caused the issue. We’d like to reproduce what happened and fix any device-, OS-, or file-specific problem. If you’re unhappy with your purchase, you can also request a refund through Apple. We completely understand being frustrated when something doesn’t work as expected. However, calling for an app to be banned from the App Store over what appears to be an isolated technical issue, without giving us an opportunity to investigate it, is unnecessarily extreme. If something is broken, we want to know about it and fix it.

Readrrr uses Apple’s iCloud infrastructure for syncing, and unfortunately, iCloud sync can occasionally be unreliable or get stuck for reasons outside the app itself. When that happens, we need to determine whether the issue is coming from the app, the device’s iCloud configuration, or Apple’s sync service. The basic reading mechanic itself is relatively simple to build, and if that’s all you need, making a small personal version with AI tools is absolutely possible. What you’re paying for with Readrrr is everything around that basic mechanic that makes it practical to use every day. Importing real PDFs reliably, for example, is considerably more complicated than displaying words on a screen. Readrrr analyzes documents to separate the actual content from page numbers, headers, footers, and other elements that would otherwise randomly appear while reading. There’s also synchronized text-to-speech, support for different document and content types, reader controls, customization, ongoing compatibility work, bug fixes, and continued development. Some of these features also rely on services and infrastructure that create ongoing operating costs as the app is used. A prototype of the core idea can be built quickly and cheaply. Turning that prototype into a polished product that reliably works across thousands of different documents and devices, and maintaining the infrastructure behind it, is where most of the work and cost is.

The monthly plan is the most flexible option, but it is not the only way to use Readrrr. We also offer a yearly plan that is significantly cheaper overall, as well as a lifetime option for people who specifically don’t want another subscription. We also disagree that the product is simply “easy to build.” The basic RSVP reading mechanic is relatively simple, and a basic personal version can absolutely be built quickly. Most of the work is in everything required to turn that mechanic into a product that works reliably with real-world content. Readrrr analyzes imported PDFs to remove things like repeating headers, footers, page numbers, and other elements that would otherwise randomly appear while reading. It also includes synchronized text-to-speech, multiple import formats, reader customization, document processing, ongoing compatibility work, bug fixes, and continued development. Some of these features also create ongoing infrastructure and operating costs. That’s why we offer different pricing options rather than forcing everyone into one model. If you prefer paying once, the lifetime plan exists specifically for that. Calling the pricing “greed” while ignoring both the significantly cheaper annual option and the one-time purchase option doesn’t really represent how the app is priced.
