About
AI or real? Swipe right for REAL, left for A.I. — and find out instantly whether your gut was right.
Most people think they can spot a fake. In Microsoft Research's study of 287,000 judgements, people got it right only 62% of the time. REAL or RENDER is the quickest way to find out where you actually stand.
HOW IT PLAYS
One image at a time: a real photo or an AI image from a current state-of-the-art model? Swipe to guess. Miss one and the app shows you the answer — and how many other players it fooled — so you learn the tells.
SIX WAYS TO PLAY
• Classic — AI or real in 60 seconds with three lives; build the longest streak you can.
• Daily Challenge — a new deck every day, the same photos for everyone. Come back to beat yesterday.
• Practice Lab — no timer. Slow down, inspect every frame and learn to spot the fake at your own pace.
• Spotting Guide — seven field tips for how to spot the fake: edges, geometry, small text, light, reflections and more.
• My Stats — overall accuracy plus separate scores for real photos and AI renders, so you can see your personal blind spot.
• Friend Challenges — send a link to the exact deck you just played and see who lasts longer on identical photos.
WHY IT'S ADDICTIVE
• 800 curated images: 400 real photographs and 400 AI renders, balanced and human reviewed.
• A "hardest fake" stat shows how many players each tricky image fooled.
• Your streak and personal best are tracked across runs.
• No account. No sign-up. Open it and play.
• Play in 20 languages: the app follows your phone's language, or pick one in Settings.
THE POINT
AI or real? Telling a real photo from an AI image used to be easy. It isn't any more, and the gap closes every month. This is a game, but it is also a calibration check: practise, learn the tells, and see whether you can beat the 62% average.
Play a round. Find out if you can really spot the fake.
