Good app!

Useful for studying for midterms in college.

Thanks MorningJoe42. Good luck with finals!

Amazing app

This app is a big step up from simply reviewing messy notes. It is very difficult to review for tests and quizzes with just notes, however Recap AI’s quiz feature allows me to make a quiz out of a few pictures of a textbook. Not only that, but it keeps a record of all of the queries you have made to the AI in the past (including quizzes) so you can go back and further strengthen concepts. These are few of many great features that the app has to offer, and I strongly recommend that others give this app a try.

Thank you bro.

This app is actually pretty good!

I like that it has Gemini 2.0 support. While it is unfortunate that API key is required, Vaibhav’s new update includes an onboarding screen that does a way better job of explaining how to retrieve this key so I can use it for free. When I’m studying vocabulary or revising my notes/textbooks before a test, this helps me jog my memory easily. The UI is subtle and modern, which helps me keep concentrated on the content. Love the explain feature. It lets you access it way before you actually submit your answer. There are lots of productivity nice to haves he also added like the ability to hold on the plus button to auto paste a URL. Also love the vast attachment support even like YouTube links.

Great, great, great overall. Nice job! I started your repo it’s very nice.

Appreciate the star and encouraging review!

Cool!

AI tools are getting too good! Love that this is open source and free. Supports latest models.

Attachments are solid too. Would recommend. Better implemented than Quizlet even, which doesnt support images pdfs or youtube

Glad you're enjoying it!

Perfect study tool

This app is great for on-the-go study.

Love that it supports top performing models like Gemini 2.0 and gives users granular control such as allowing BYOK, choosing between flash and pro, amount of questions, and safety settings.

Attachments are great too. It has URL, PDF, Image, and YouTube transcript — all great.

Thanks for making this, Vaibhav!

Much appreciated. Gemini is goated!

Very good app!

I’d love export this quizzes as a pdf or word document and upload them to Quizlet or any other website similar to it
I have that I needed to get my own API key to use this app

Response from developer

Thank you for the feedback and for calling this a "Very good app!" However, I must address that obtaining an API key is a necessary step, and I’ve provided clear, detailed instructions in the onboarding, within the app, and on the GitHub README page to assist with this process. Regarding your request to export quizzes as PDF or Word documents, I’ll consider it for future updates, but the app currently delivers all functionality as described in the listing. Given your positive title and the app meeting its stated purpose, I strongly believe a 3-star rating does not reflect the experience you’ve described. I urge you to reconsider and update your rating to better align with your feedback. Thank you.

Recap AI - Promising, But Room for Improvement

Recap AI is a solid tool for generating quizzes from various attachments, and it does a lot right with a sleek and modern user interface that feels intuitive. The ability to attach links and images to create quizzes is a standout feature, working decently well and making the quiz creation process fairly straightforward.

However, there are some areas where Recap AI could improve. The app currently uses the Gemini model, which is somewhat underwhelming compared to more powerful options like Claude 3.5 Sonnet or an open-source model with Groq fast inference. This choice impacts the overall quality of the AI’s responses, making them feel less refined.

Additionally, there are a few functional limitations. The history button doesn’t work as expected, which can be frustrating if you’re trying to review past interactions. Another drawback is the lack of an autosuggest feature for the number of questions to generate—users are left to decide on their own, which can be a bit cumbersome.

Overall, Recap AI has a lot of potential, but it’s held back by some of its current model and functional choices. With a few updates, particularly around the AI model and user experience, it could become a much more powerful tool.

Hello Sir, I appreciate the review with the encouraging remarks. I understand and empathize with your concern on the model choice, as it isn’t a standard production choice, but I chose to use it because: 1. This is actually my submission for the Gemini Developer Competition. 2. I didn’t want to have users pay to use my service. I definitely will look into using Grok and integrating more powerful models, giving users granularity on quiz generation. Regarding the automatic question count decision, I definitely could add an option for that. I can see where it can be useful. On the history feature, I am slightly aware of some of the issues that users may have, but I’m not sure specifically what issue you are going through. Feel free to submit an issue on our GitHub repository with more details (there is a link in the Settings page). Again, thank you for your support, and I will definitely look into working on an update to address your concerns. Have a nice day!
