It's utterly incredible that the federal government have managed to paywall the court filings that are meant to be publicly accessible. It made no sense ten years ago when I was in law school, and it makes even less sense now since the argument regarding costs is essentially spurious. We should be so lucky that when the state fails to provide ready access to the public the transparency required for the rule of law, we practitioners and even interested parties can step up. Keep writing your reps and senators, they can change this. Meanwhile, I shall keep RECAP on, for the record.

Amazing Free Software Any Lawyer Should Have
I have been using RECAP for years, and am constantly amazed at how awesome it is. It has save me so much time and expense, it is astonishing it is free. There's also a way to search other filings online for free. In short, not onliy does this help me, but it helps anyone wanting free access to the law.
