About

Red Sea Creatures is a field guide to everything that swims, hides and stings in the Red Sea: hundreds of species, the sites where you meet them, and a way to settle the argument on the boat about what that orange thing was. On iPhone, iPad and Mac. FISHID: HAND IT A PHOTO. OR A WHOLE VIDEO. - Feed it an underwater shot and it tells you what you saw, matched against photographs taken here, in this sea - not stock images of aquarium fish. - Feed it a clip and it chews through the lot on your phone, finds where the picture changes and hands you the frames worth arguing about. Tap one, get a name. - Blurry, backlit, half a fish behind a coral head? Send it anyway. That is what our photos look like too, and the answer is often still right. - It knows one sea and nothing else, which is exactly why it gets them right. Show it your cat and it will say so. - Five identifications a month are free. Packs that never expire, or a subscription if you dive most weeks - and what you buy belongs to your account, not to the phone in your hand. THE CATALOGUE - Hundreds of species - fish, sharks, rays, turtles, corals, nudibranchs - sorted by family, and in the big groups by genus, so the lookalikes stand together. - Every card: photographs, scientific name, size, habitat, depth, behaviour, danger and venom, conservation status. - And one fact per animal that actually sticks. Not a database dump. THE REST OF THE KIT - Dive sites with maps, depth, conditions and what lives at each. - Dive centres across the Red Sea, filtered by city and country. - Today's dive weather: air, water, wind, and whether you want the 5 mm. - Dangerous marine life: what stings, what bites, what to do about it, who to call. - Glossary: every technical word in the guide, in plain language. - Blog: guides, species spotlights and stories from the reef. - Search that understands a description, not just a name. Try "white fish black stripe yellow tail". - Widgets on the Home and Lock Screen, the guide inside Messages, sticker packs for Telegram and WhatsApp. - App Clip: scan a code at a dive centre and it opens without installing anything. - Built for iPad and Mac too, light and dark. - Optional account (Apple, Google, Facebook, Discord, X): save favourites, share your own photographs, review sites and centres. CONSERVATION The Red Sea is unique and it is fragile. Every card carries the conservation status of the animal on it. Look, photograph, and leave the reef the way you found it. Free to explore. FishID gives everyone five identifications a month; packs and a subscription are there if you need more. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. What's New in Red Sea Creatures

2.1.1

September 5, 2026

Prices you can actually read. A dive course in Jordan comes listed at 350 JOD, and unless you live there that number means nothing at all. Now it also says about $490, in dollars, euros or pounds, whichever your phone speaks. It is a rough figure and not a quote: rates drift, and plenty of centers set their own dollar price that owes nothing to the official one. Enough, though, to tell a bargain from a splurge before you write to anybody. Missed the last one? FishID has been naming fish from your photos for a while, and since the previous update it takes video as well: drop in a dive clip and it hands back the frames worth arguing about, already sorted out of the blue. Below deck: edges sanded, bolts tightened. See you in the water.
