About

Before you share that screenshot, ask yourself: what's in it that shouldn't be? Bank account numbers. Email addresses. Phone numbers. Chat messages. Order IDs. Medical details. Every day, people share screenshots that accidentally expose private information, their own and others'. Redactor fixes that in seconds. Draw a box over anything sensitive and it's permanently gone. The redaction is baked directly into the image pixels before it ever leaves your device. No editable layers, no hidden data, no way to reverse it later. What you cover stays covered. THREE TOOLS. ONE JOB. • BLACK BAR — A solid opaque rectangle. The gold standard for redaction. Text underneath is completely unreadable at any zoom level. • BLUR — A strong Gaussian blur that obscures detail while preserving context. Best for faces, backgrounds, or partial information. • PIXELATE — Converts the selected area into large blocks. Strong, clear, and visually distinctive. Recommended for sensitive text and numbers. PRECISE EDITING • Draw a selection box anywhere on the image • Move and resize any redaction box after placing it • Pinch to zoom in for pixel-precise placement • Undo and redo any number of steps • Crop the image to remove surrounding context entirely • Tap any box to delete it instantly SAFE EXPORT Redactor flattens all redactions permanently into the image before export. No layers, no metadata, no trace of the original content underneath. • Export as PNG or JPG • Save directly to your Camera Roll • Share to any app via the standard share sheet • EXIF metadata automatically stripped on every export • A built-in Privacy Check warns you before export if any blur areas look too small to be safe COMPLETELY PRIVATE BY DESIGN This app was built around one principle: your images are yours. • Zero data collection ever • No account or sign-in required • No ads, no tracking, no analytics • All processing happens entirely on your device • Works with no internet connection • No images are uploaded anywhere, at any time Redactor is a one-time purchase. No subscription. No upsell. Pay once and it's yours. WHAT PEOPLE USE IT FOR • Sharing bank statements or invoices with an accountant or insurer • Sending a screenshot to tech support without exposing account details • Posting a receipt or order confirmation to social media • Sharing a medical result or document while protecting personal information • Blurring faces before posting a group photo publicly • Removing private contact details before forwarding a message screenshot • Complying with workplace privacy policies before sharing internal screenshots PERMISSIONS Redactor requests access to your Photo Library solely to import images you choose to redact and to save your exported result to Camera Roll. Camera access is entirely optional and only used if you choose to take a photo directly within the app. No images are ever transmitted outside your device for any reason.

What's New in Redactor

1.5

September 22, 2026

NEW — Verified redactions After you export, Redactor re-reads the finished image and checks whether any text is still legible inside a redacted area. If something survived, it tells you exactly what — so you find out before you send it, not after. NEW — Smarter auto-detect Detection now targets individual words instead of whole lines, so redacting one email no longer blacks out the sentence around it. Card numbers are checksum-validated, which means far fewer false alarms on order and tracking numbers. NEW — Private in the app switcher Your screenshot is now hidden when you switch apps. NEW — See what was removed The export screen names the metadata stripped from your image: location, device, capture time. FIXED — An important privacy fix JPG exports could retain the original photo's metadata, including location. They no longer do. If you've shared JPGs from an earlier version, consider re-exporting them. ALSO • Blur and pixelate are now equally strong on any resolution, including high-res screenshots • Crop can be undone • Saved files now appear in the Files app under On My iPhone › Redactor • Drawing while zoomed in now works properly • Large photos no longer risk a crash on import
