Reedar: Saxophone Reed Tracker

Reedar is a reed tracker for saxophone players. You already know some reeds last a month and some die in a week. Reedar is how you find out which is which, and stop buying on a hunch. THE CASE Home is your case: eight slots, a reed lying in each one you've filled. Tap a reed to open it. Drag it to move it. The reed that has rested longest says "Play this next" on the cane, so opening the app answers the only question you opened it to settle. LOGGING TAKES THREE TAPS How long, and what was it: practice, lesson, rehearsal, gig, recording, audition. Reedar separates clock time from playing time, because two hours of rehearsal is not two hours of wear. It counts bars rest at an honest rate for each kind of session, and you can override it with a slider whenever you like. WHAT YOUR REEDS ACTUALLY LAST Retire a reed and it joins the record. The Lifespan screen groups your retired reeds by model, and by model and strength, and tells you how many hours each one gives you. Yours, on your mouthpiece, not an average of strangers. Reeds that chipped or went missing are left out, since they say nothing about how long the model lasts.
