Brilliant app and unique concept.

I think this is a fantastic and unique app and becomes more useful as a travel aid the more you throw into it. As a long-term user It has been great exploring the new features available in this latest major update.

My geographical journal

I love Rego. I’ve been using it for 8 years to track everywhere I’ve ever been (2,000+ locations and tracking) and I consider it my geographical journal. I can use either the map, any number of the custom collections I’ve created, or searching for keywords to quickly find past locations I’ve logged. When I’m asked questions about an experience (What’d you like at that restaurant? When did you visit that country and what were your favorite places? What time of year did you climb that mountain and what were the conditions like?), I can quickly pull up the details.

Recent updates a couple weeks ago have added some features I find helpful. Including improving the search function for keywords and being able to send one of your locations through Rego into either Apple Maps or Google Maps to navigate to. Initially, the app lagged significantly with the update, but the developer fixed that issue within a couple days. The app at its core remains hugely customizable, allowing you to track and journal about your life as you see fit. 5 stars.

Best Spot Recording App I’ve Found

This app does it’s job elegantly and flawlessly. Marking down a digital map with places I’ve visited or spent time has long been a hobby, and for years I cycled through multiple iOS apps that accomplished the task in an incomplete or unreliable way. I was immediately overjoyed when I found Rego and have used it ceaselessly for years since. It does everything on my wish list. The developer is responsive and keeps the app up to date, and the backup and export features mean I’ll never lose the mapping data I’ve accumulated. Highly recommend!

Best app for saving places

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Rego is hands down the best app I’ve found for saving places. It makes it incredibly easy to keep track of places I’ve visited, want to visit, or simply don’t want to forget. Everything is easy to access, and finding a place again later takes seconds.

This app is an absolute gem and one of my best finds. It has genuinely made my life easier, especially when trying to remember a great restaurant, shop, café, or any other place I’ve been to.

Simple, useful, and very well designed. I highly recommend Rego!

Another App Ruined By Subscriptions

UPDATE: I contacted Rego like their response said and got no response. So if anyone else has a problem don’t expect any help

I paid for the app years ago and now guess what? They want monthly payments or yearly payments because owners of these apps love fleecing their users. I have used it for years and now I can’t add anything else because I have to pay again. I paid originally to add more than 25 locations and now I have to do it monthly

Also the app has changed and honestly absolutely horrible design. Every location is in a list. There is no map view that I can find except for adding a location which now I can’t unless I pay.

After using this app for years, I will have to find another option. I won’t pay more than this app than I already have. It is sad to see pure greed to switch to a subscription.

I highly don’t recommend this app and please don’t pay another subscription

Long time user

Upgrade to new version didn’t restore paid status, contacted developer to fix the issue for me.

Loyal user, very disappointed

I’ve used this app for years and am VERY disappointed with this update. I cannot find things easily. Whats worse is that when I manually try to fix things in folders it refuses to save. Please bring back the old version!

3.0 Update lost useful functionality - 1-star for the update

Have used Rego for years and considered it one of my must have apps. Giving 1 star for the latest update to Rego 3.0 as I lost 2 very useful features.

I had previously grouped collections of places into folders/groups. However, the update didn’t bring my existing folders over - and there is no way to add my existing collections to 3.0 folders if I remake them. This effectively flattened what was a nice hierarchical view I had built up over years. (For example, a folder for a given state or country with individual collections within that for specific cities)

I had previously given custom names for colors. While 3.0 now has more colors, my existing custom names did not import - and it doesn’t appear that there is a way to rename color labels in 3.0.

New version RUINED it

I have been using Rego for YEARS to store places I visited or want to check out, both locally and traveling. I had no problems the last time Rego updated major versions. The new update is horrible. It turned all my folders into collections. It swapped a few of my location colors so my color coding is broken. No more map view within a collection. This reeks of an AI vibe coded updated no one asked for and reduces functionality. I would pay money to go back to the old version. Seriously considering no longer paying for this app and finding a new solution.

Excellent, straightforward, and private

An excellent update to an already essential app! Love the refreshed visuals and new platform support. This has been my go-to app to privately log new places for the last 10+ years, and it’s been an integral part of all my business and leisure trips.

Great control, privacy

Bookmarking places is probably one of the most useful features on my phone. But I’ve always been a bit uncomfortable putting all those saved places in Google or Apple Maps. Now I don’t have to choose! I can save a place in Rego, label and categorize it however I want, and get directions in the app of my choosing! Furthermore, it’s easy to export, share, and back those bookmarks up with just a few quick taps. Love it!

Personal location directory and diary

I often save locations of intriguing restaurants where I happen to walk by but I'm not yet hungry. This is super handy on travels. Once I'm in the restaurant, I often take a picture of the menu and write notes about the place. I use Rego like a diary that serves me as a personal directory without the need to enter locations into my address book. I also use Rego to snap a picture of a friend's house where I don't yet have the name in my address book.

Long time satisfied user

I’ve been using this app consistently for 7 years! I call it my geographical journal. I love being able to pull up notes on everywhere I’ve been, with completely open options on how to categorize to my liking. At a glance, I’ve been to 657 restaurants, 221 hikes, 66 ski resorts, and 13 Trader Joe’s (because why not track Trader Joe’s?). All filled with whatever details I wanted to be able to recall later. Maybe it’s a little better now, but at the time of downloading there wasn’t any apps with anything close to the level of personalization that Rego allows. It seems to be a small user base and I never really see any updates, but it’s honestly got everything I need.

Love This App!

Rego is an essential for keeping track of key locations in my travels. The developer was responsive and immediately solved an issue. Really hoping this app continues to update for iOS changes they might screw things up.

All my data was lost

All my data was lost. Very disappointing

A wonderful local library of your places

Rego is where I go to save my favorite place I discover locally and when traveling. It helps me recall that restaurant I ate at while traveling, a photo of their menu and notes on prices/what was good. It helps me give activity recommendations to friends when they also visit the same cities I did!

And it does this without being tied to any specific service. It’s great and I’ve been using it for years now. A strong recommendation from me.
