What's New in Remokon

4.0

August 13, 2026

Version 4.0 is a complete rewrite. The message format is unchanged from 3.0.3 and earlier, so your existing programs keep working. ■ Added - A built-in OSC reference, with copy and file export - Sample code for Max and Processing, bundled with the app - Connection status at the top of the screen (indicator color, destination, message counts) - Finding the receiving host over Bonjour - Saving destinations as presets - Haptic feedback - Several windows on iPad, each able to send to a different host - Japanese and English ■ Changes - Settings open as a sheet rather than a page (still page 4 over OSC) - Pages are switched from the tab bar at the bottom. Swiping sideways works only where there are no controls - Sliding a finger across toggles and buttons presses each one it passes over (sliders and the XY pad still follow the finger that grabbed them) - Settings take effect immediately - Losing Wi-Fi no longer shows an alert; the indicator at the top reports it ■ Fixed - Changing pages from the host with /set works again (it had been broken since iOS 5) - Malformed OSC messages no longer crash the app ■ Please note - OSC address pattern matching (/s* and the like) is not supported. The address must be exactly /set - iOS cannot send to 255.255.255.255. Use the subnet broadcast address that the settings screen offers (192.168.1.255, for example)

FAQ

What is Remokon used for?

Remokon is a wireless controller that sends commands via OSC (Open Sound Control) to compatible software like Max, Processing, or SuperCollider. It allows you to control parameters such as sound playback, lighting, and other creative applications remotely from your iPhone or iPad.

Does Remokon work on its own?

No, Remokon requires a program on the receiving side to function. You need to have compatible OSC software running on your computer or another device to receive and interpret the commands sent by Remokon.

How many controls does Remokon offer?

Remokon offers a total of 102 controls spread across four pages: Mix (4 vertical sliders, 1 horizontal slider, 4 toggles), Pad (16 push buttons, 4 toggles), XY (1 XY slider, 4 toggles), and Grid (64 mini toggles, 4 toggles).

Can I use multiple controls at once with Remokon?

Yes, every control in Remokon is multi-touch enabled. This means you can operate several controls simultaneously, and sliding a finger across multiple buttons or toggles will activate each one it passes over.

Does Remokon send sensor data?

Yes, Remokon can send data from your device's accelerometer, including x, y, and z axis readings at 50 Hz, as well as shake gestures, via OSC.

How does Remokon connect to other devices?

Remokon supports various connection methods, including specifying host address, output, and input ports. It can find receiving hosts via Bonjour, save destinations as presets, and send to the entire LAN using subnet broadcast.

Is Remokon compatible with older projects?

Yes, the message format in Remokon has remained unchanged since version 3.0.3. This ensures that patches and programs you have already written will continue to work with the current version.

Does Remokon have ads?

No, Remokon does not contain advertisements. It is a paid application that provides an ad-free experience for its users.
