About

Remove RAW is built specifically to clean up space-consuming RAW originals in your Photos library. What Remove RAW does • Scans your Photos library and identifies assets that contain RAW resources • RAW + JPEG / HEIF: keeps the JPEG / HEIF image and removes the RAW file • RAW only: converts the RAW file to HEIF using Apple CIRAWFilter (10-bit, iOS 15+) • Preserves important metadata such as creation date and GPS location Why you need it If you shoot in RAW, every photo can include a 25-50 MB RAW original. Most RAW files are never opened again after editing, but they can quietly take up tens of gigabytes in your Photos library. Supported RAW formats Apple ProRAW (DNG), Canon (CR2, CR3), Nikon (NEF, NRW), Sony (ARW), Fuji (RAF), Olympus (ORF), Panasonic (RW2), Pentax (PEF, PTX), Hasselblad (3FR, FFF), Leica (RWL), Sigma (X3F), Phase One (IIQ), Samsung (SRW), Kodak, Epson, Mamiya, Minolta, RED, GoPro, and 25+ RAW formats in total. Designed for safety • Hidden photos are never included in the candidate list • Favorite photos are excluded by default, with an option to change this in settings • Deletion uses the iOS system Recently Deleted album, so items can be recovered within 30 days • All image processing happens locally on your device Efficient by design • Built with native PhotoKit APIs • Full scan on first use, then indexed updates for new or changed photos • History records your total reclaimed storage over time Network and privacy • No analytics, no tracking, no third-party SDKs, no account required • Your photos are never uploaded • When a photo is stored only in iCloud, Apple PhotoKit may download it automatically so the RAW data can be processed. This is the same system behavior used by Apple Photos.
