I don’t know how to start the game
All I see is a dog running back and forth on the screen while a song plays in the back. The song stopped after about 3 minutes and I thought “Ok, good. The game should start now”. But no, the dog just keeps running back and forth and I have absolutely no control to stop it or skip or do anything. I watched the dog run for about 5 minutes and then I lost interest, and I’m sure that other people will lose interest as well. Maybe just a long intro? I don’t know. But most people aren’t going to be patient enough to see it through.

what is the point? you cannot expect me to sit here and keep a dogs kidneys clear. i think the real issue is with the old man. he needs to get his butt up and hike out of the woods he lives in and take that dog to the vet. i think relying on random unqualified app users to keep his dog healthy is very irresponsible!

It was truly a beautiful and enjoyable game. I had to say goodbye to my beloved dog of over 10 years this year due to illness and seeing the old man enjoy his quiet, simple life with his dog by his side reminded me of all the good times I had with my dog! It really touched my heart. The “Dog Times” articles emphasized the old man loved his dog and wanted to do everything he could for him (massages for renal health, special food, the special drone deliveries), which was true for me as well. Thank you so much to everyone involved in the development of this game!

This really pulled my heartstrings
What a gorgeous little game. I’ve always admired pixel art and animation, and Renal Summer does this beautifully. Coupled with a gorgeous soundtrack and ambiance, I found myself wanting to know and see what was going on. Over the course of 7 days you get to know the antics of your old man and dog in their daily lives - from the farming, to playing fetch or them just hanging out together.
The game gets progressively harder as you go along and see your kidneys fail and the blocks becoming corrupted. You have to visit more and more often to keep your dog from passing away, as well as upgrade your blood pressure to make the blocks easier to break.
It made me think of my own dog and how much I love her, and the fact I won’t have her forever... so I need to make the most of what I have.

Worst tamagotchi ever 🤣
Seriously tho this game is brilliant. It’s so sad and dark the fact that you know it’s going to end and all your doing is prolonging the inevitable. I’m on day six at the min and it’s getting so demanding to keep alive but at the same time I don’t want my dog to die.
I’m tapping away saying live damn you live but each day it gets harder and harder to keep him alive.
It’s like nothing I’ve played before.
