Feature request: regex capture groups
Hello, I was wondering if you could add the ability for one to use regular expression capture groups in the renaming process. For example, the following would be extremely extremely useful:
Filename:
application_2026-05-02-export.zip
Search:
(.+)_(\d{2})-(\d{2})-(\d{4})(?:.*)
Rename:
$4-$2-$3_$1.zip
Result:
2026-05-02_application.zip
This would amazing if you could do this. Thanks!

The first time I tried this app was completely disappointing, and I thought it would be just another abandoned app. I’m very happy to have found I was wrong.
I have now given a 5 star because it works and has several useful features, but I do think it could stand to be further developed. I was able to accomplish what I wanted, but I did need to play with it for a few minutes first. I think some would find it to be confusing if they had not used a program like this before.
I very much appreciate the preview automatically adapting on the control screen for how the settings chosen will change the file name.
I have now given a 5 star because it works and has several useful features, but I do think it could stand to be further developed. Please update the app, this issue was fixed months ago. We've also improved the renaming logic and overall reliability since then.
Great tool against annoying suffixes
My graphics software by default adds an automatic suffix to files exported in a certain resolution.
With this app they were all gone in seconds - awesome!

普通に神。100個以上のファイルを一気にナンバリングできる。元のファイル名を完全に消すのも一瞬だし、元のファイル名の最初とか最後に任意の文字列を挿入できるのもデカイ。日本語対応しててUIも分かりやすい

ファイル選択→右下のブラウズをタップ→左上の戻るボタン→リネームしたいファイルを開く→右上の開くボタン
でリネームできるようになる。

All’s Well in the World—of Apple Books—with Renamer
At first I couldn’t understand why I couldn’t do a simple find and replace but I figured it out. I replaced the added text I was getting to each file—1,500 of them—when downloading books, articles, reference papers, etc into my Apple Books app. I spent two days trying to create a shortcut in Apple Shortcuts but couldn’t do it…even with Claude or Gemini. It took less than 30 seconds to do a find/replace action and BOOM all my Books were name changed, and I removed all the _ (underscore symbols) that had been added to my file names. I did download Batch Rename app—and paid 5$ for it, but that app DID NOT WORK.

Uma funcionalidade que antes era somente de pc windows agora feita de uma forma tão incrível, com integração nativa com os arquivos e com tantas funcionalidades de renomear é sensacional. Just what I needed
After a frustrating search I finally found what I needed - a nice simple app to do batch file renaming on my iPad (and iPhone). This has saved me so much time. Very responsive developer too, thanks Marco!

Hangs up and cannot do the job
This app is worthless for iPad Pro m1. It locks up, and sometimes it lets you type one letter every 30 sec. I want my money back.

Have you updated the app? The issue has been fixed in the latest version. It only occurred when renaming hundreds or thousands of files, and it's now handled much more efficiently. Performance is now smooth on all devices.
Finally got the feature I wanted!
I used to feel the app was missing a key feature I really wanted, but with the recent update, it’s been improved and I’m very satisfied. Thank you for the quick response and consistent updates. I look forward to seeing the app continue to grow and get even better.

Nel tentativo di utilizzare l’iPad come un normalissimo computer mi sono accorto che non era in grado di gestire il rinominare gruppi di file scegliendo le varie modalitá. Davvero semplice, veloce ed efficace. Bravo!

Adds a 1 to the end of the filename
Great but Number 1 issue
Great application; it can change file names from other applications folders; but the issue with 1 being added at the end of file names still exist; I didn’t understand the developer solution with disabling counting files. Hope these issue got fixed.

Thank you for the feedback! The “1” being added to filenames was indeed a bug and has been completely fixed in the latest version. No more unwanted numbers will be added when using prefix/suffix options. Thanks for helping improve the app!
