About

For tenants renting in the United States. RenterShield covers all 50 US states and Washington, DC. It does not cover tenancy law outside the US. RenterShield turns landlord disputes into letters they can't ignore. When your security deposit doesn't come back, when repairs go unfixed for weeks, when someone enters your apartment without notice — you have rights. The hard part is knowing which rights apply in your state, finding the exact statute, and writing a letter that sounds like it came from a lawyer instead of a frustrated tenant. RenterShield does that part for you. Pick your state. Pick the issue. Generate a professional demand letter that cites the actual statute number — not generic boilerplate. Your security-deposit demand letter is FREE — generate the full, statute-cited letter and copy it, no subscription. Getting your deposit back is the moment that matters most, so we don't put it behind a paywall. WHAT'S INCLUDED • Tenant rights for all 50 US states + Washington, DC — verified against state code (last reviewed July 2026) • FREE: the full Security-Deposit Demand letter, cited to your state's statute, ready to copy • Deposit deadline tracker — count down to the day your landlord legally must return your deposit • One-tap calendar reminder for your deadline • Home screen widget — lease countdown at a glance RENTERSHIELD PRO • 5 more statute-cited letters — repairs, unauthorized entry, notice to vacate, mold, and pests • Export any letter as a letterhead-style PDF, ready for certified mail • Letter history — every letter saved and re-exportable • Auto-fill from your saved lease — enter your details once WHY IT MATTERS A demand letter that cites your state's exact statute number — "Cal. Civ. Code § 1950.5(g)(1)", "N.Y. Gen. Oblig. Law § 7-108" — works dramatically better than one that doesn't. It signals to a landlord that you've done your homework, that you know the timeline, and that you're prepared to escalate. Most landlords cure the issue at this stage rather than risk court. PRICING RenterShield Pro unlocks the other 5 letters, PDF export, letter history, and saved-lease auto-fill. Choose Monthly, Annual, or a one-time Lifetime purchase — the exact price for your country is shown in the app before you buy. Monthly and Annual are auto-renewing subscriptions that renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; manage or cancel in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Lifetime is a one-time purchase that does not renew. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. PRIVACY Everything you enter stays on your device. No accounts. No tracking. No analytics SDKs. No data sale. Your name, address, and lease details are stored locally and never leave your phone. https://evelaina.com/rentershield/privacy NOT LEGAL ADVICE RenterShield provides general legal information about tenant rights by state. What's New in RenterShield

1.1.1

September 10, 2026

Corrected tenant-rights data in 23 states. The most important fix: 21 states listed withholding rent as a tenant remedy when those statutes actually require rent to be paid into court instead. Acting on the old wording could have left a tenant in nonpayment. Deposit-return deadlines are also corrected for Alaska, Minnesota and South Dakota, and West Virginia's deadline now reads the shorter of its two periods, as the statute requires. This update also removes the hard-coded US dollar prices from this page - they were shown to every country - and refreshes the App Store screenshots.
