About
RequestTracker keeps the clock on your public-records requests.
File a FOIA request with a federal agency or a California Public Records Act request with a city or county, then add it here. RequestTracker works out the statutory response deadline for you, counts down to it, and flags the request when the agency runs late.
DEADLINE MATH, DONE FOR YOU
• Federal FOIA: 20 business days, skipping weekends and federal holidays
• California CPRA: 10 calendar days
• Extensions: FOIA +10 business days, CPRA +14 calendar days
• The clock starts from the date the agency received your request, if you know it, or from your filing date if you don't
• For other state laws, enter the agency's stated deadline yourself
APPEALS AND NEXT STEPS
• FOIA: the 90-day administrative appeal window after a denial or partial denial, and the agency's deadline to answer your appeal
• CPRA: the 15-day window for going to court when an agency denies or doesn't answer
TRACK EVERYTHING ELSE
• Status from filed to closed
• Fee quotes, payments and fee-waiver requests
• Exemptions and redactions the agency cited
• Your own notes on every request
• Search and filter by agency, jurisdiction and status; overdue and due-soon requests stand out
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account. No sign-up. No ads. No tracking. Your requests are stored only on your device, in a database iOS encrypts while your phone is locked. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else. Export a JSON or CSV backup whenever you want, and import it again later.
RequestTracker is a tracking tool, not legal advice. Deadlines are computed from the statutes as written. Agencies, courts and special circumstances can change them, so confirm anything critical with the agency or an attorney.
