About
RestRate helps you count, record and review your dog or cat's sleeping or resting respiratory rate.
Frame your pet with the camera, press Start and tap once for each complete breath during a 30-second measurement. RestRate calculates the breaths per minute from your taps. You count the breaths; the camera does not detect them automatically. Camera access is required for timed measurements.
Keep an organized record for each pet:
- Create separate dog and cat profiles with optional breed, date of birth and photo.
- Save readings and review local history and trends.
- Enter earlier measurements manually.
- Set daily or weekly reminders.
- Share a text report with your veterinarian.
- Choose light or dark appearance.
Pet profiles and measurement history are stored on your device and do not sync between phones. Reminder delivery depends on device settings and notification permission.
Video upload is your choice. Measurements can record silent video without microphone audio. The default setting asks whether to upload after each measurement. You can choose Never upload or explicitly enable automatic private uploads for future measurements. Optional uploads include the video and related pet and measurement information for measurement-quality review and product improvement. Your respiratory-rate result can be saved even when you decline an upload or an upload fails. Uploading requires an internet connection.
RestRate is an informational veterinary monitoring aid. It does not diagnose, prevent or treat disease, guarantee accuracy, or replace veterinary assessment. If your pet has severe breathing difficulty, collapses, has blue or pale gums, or appears distressed, seek urgent veterinary care regardless of an app reading.
