Retablo is a quiet sliding-tile puzzle built from real sacred art — medieval stained glass, gold-ground altarpiece panels, and a Caravaggio, from the 14th to the 17th centuries, photographed by The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Cleveland Museum of Art and shared through their Open Access programs, alongside original photographs of devotional art in living parishes. Each level scatters one genuine artwork — the Virgin and Child, the Nativity, the Adoration of the Magi, the Mater Dolorosa — into leaded panes with a single empty space.
