A great Rhodes for iPad
I tried a few Rhodes-es on the iPad and was generally underwhelmed. After using AudioKit synth apps, I was excited to try their new e-piano instrument. Their previous Mark 1 app was disappointing in the velocity to timbre response. Retro Keys is totally different and behaves very realistically, the sound is everything you would hope for. Value is incredible compared to some desktop software instruments. I’m not totally sold on some of the fun sound degrading functions, but the layering is genuinely useful. A great sound and highly jammable. Matthew provided personal support when I reached out. Thanks again!

I would say that for a basic reproduction of classic electric pianos this is my favorite. I think it is even better than Korg emulations (which are great). Compared to other models like korg or logic the pianos may sound a little more stylized but to my ear this is a good thing! The experience of using that is excellent. Almost as good as using the hardware based Yamaha reface cp. This is app on an iPad connected to a key board is a really close experience to the reface-cp and some of the sounds are even better. The preset effects are really interesting and diverse and make great inspiration for creating amazing sounds on the fly with knobs and oscillators. The electric pianos are all great and the upright piano is also a welcome surprise ! The effects are Awsome and any knob can be linked to an oscillator. The lofi tape and vinyl sounds are also fantastic. Equally great for recording and for just improvising and getting into the zone. One big complaint is that this app does not run on silicon Macs. Kings of FM for example does and while it is a touch first app it is great to be able to use it in Logic on a pc. I hope the developers address this in the future. I would hold back a star for this but the app is just too enjoyable to give it less than full marks.

Presets Worth Admission Price
I just downloaded and started playing around with some of the presets, and I’m immediately inspired by many of them. Another great one from AudioKit at a superb price.
AudioKit does it again!
I have come to just automatically purchase AudioKit stuff, sight- unseen… or heard, or whatever — they’re just that good.
But after a while, the sounds start to sound *somewhat* similar, which is kind of to be expected (it’s the user interface that varies more, and of course the discriminating listener will notice the subtleties in sounds).
But THIS app takes sounds I grew up with, and takes them to a whole new level!!! I never once thought about making a choir or pad out of a “percussive” instrument like a Rhodes or Wurlitzer! And the sound deep and gorgeous and convincing — and totally different!
One more note: If you’re looking for 500 presets, you won’t find them here (as of May 2026, but they add presets all the time, so your mileage may vary). But the ones they have so far are as unique as you will ever find, and in my humble opinion, that’s really saying something!

Finally, someone does justice to these instruments on iOS
I should preface my comments by noting that I have been playing keyboards for over 50 years. I know exactly what words are EP 200a sounds like when it’s bone stock, and I know what one sounds like when it’s been modified to have a hotter, preamp or to move the reeds closer to the pick up bar. I sold various models of Rhodes out of my music store for several years, so I know exactly what they sound like as well. I also know what it sounds like when it’s been modified by Chuck Monty to have that famous ‘DynaRhodes’ sound.
I’m a real stickler for the sound of these instruments and let’s just say that this plug-in does them justice. It’s not just one of the best iOS electric piano plug-ins. It’s one of the best… maybe THE best … period. If you want authentic sounding Wurlitzer and Rhodes EP sounds, look no further.
The CP–70 is just wonderful, and it’s the first plug-in from any manufacturer that I immediately just reacted to as playing the real thing. Most plug-ins either screw up their sample set … too harsh or too mellow, not really capturing the dynamic range of the instrument and its unique sound.
This plug-in covers the CP-70 territory as well as anyone ever has. You can get those great Peter Gabriel and Genesis sounds, and you could just as easily get Toto and “yacht rock” type pianos with ease.
I really don’t have anything to say about the retro piano upright sound other than it’s very useful and will probably find a place among your favorite sounds.
At this price, it’s an absolute must buy and a total steal!

vibe, but dampers are slow
love the sounds, but I can’t play staccato, the release time is too long, can you reprogram the release time to match a damper silencing the tynes.

Love the ambient/ experimental
Great sounds and I love the blend with modeling but what sets it apart from my many other piano apps (and speaking as an experienced longtime piano & keys player) is the experimental and ambient sounds. For $4.99 intro it’s a steal.
Beaucoup trop lourd et trop d’effets
Pas assez sons de naturel des instruments , au lieu de ça des centaines de variantes avec des effets ( delay, reverb, chorus , phaser) qui bouffent toute la ram de mon vieil iPad ! On veut un vrai son de Rhodes, wurly et non des presets avec des dizaines d’effets où on ne reconnaît même plus l’instrument de base.

Audio Kit, I’ve only heard good things from my friends who make music. However since I’m new, as well as starting my own production journey. I needed to see what this app is about. Omdz this app is fire 🔥 I’m still learning about chord progression, the sound, texture, presets, it’s so clean ngl. 10/10 app can’t wait for updates
