Outstanding software

I have been using Reunion since version 5. The support group is awesome, they will help you work thru any issues and answer any questions you may have. The help menu is very detailed. The best thing about Leister Pro is they only do Reunion software but they do it for many languages.

Sorely disappointed

Since upgrading to 14.1, Reunion Touch pretends that I have no people in the file. There is no way to open a different file on the app. I’d also like to not download images on Reunion Touch but there is no option to change that. This is bare bones to the extreme. Wish someone would make this app useful. It’s a great idea just not working.

Worthless

Without being able to easily upload a GED.com file, this program is useless. Whoever heard of a genealogy program that won’t upload a gedcom file? Now you’ve heard of one. I really Don’t want to jump through hoops to get data into the genealogy program

Does not synchronize with other devices on iCloud

I have been using Reunion on my Mac since around 1994. it contains the data expertly, and I'm full of gratitude that it has kept my data intact for nearly 30 years The Mac version is totally un-Maclike. I don't think the designers ever looked at Mac user interface guidelines. Same is true for Version 1.0.19 for iOS: version; they don't take advantage of any of the user interface genius of the iPhone. It works, and I'm glad to have it available on my iPhone. Dealbreaker: when I added a note to a person's record on my iPad and added a photo, those changes did not sync back to my iPhone even after restarting both devices. Dear Product Manager, please ask Apple for help. You need it. ... Now I understand when it says "Family files on this device". I mistakenly thought that it would have a link back to iCloud. My mistake. And I see that it says "Download a family file from iCloud Drive" They never promised to synchronize my file. Why not? That's the whole point of iCloud. So I deleted the app from my iPhone, because it is dangerous to have two separate files on two separate devices being updated, and they know that. I take responsibility for my mistake in understanding how it works. But they should make it more clear. They should make it clear that if I use Dropbox, either it will sync, or it will be the same problem: downloading and not synchronizing.

Disappointing

I like the Reunion app, but I am totally disappointed with the fact that I have to pay for expensive updates to get very little value from them. In particular, why do I have to keep using Dropbox to sync after all these years later? It is totally disappointing that Reunion can’t move forward, I love my past but I like to use apps that keep up with my current life. Please!!! I would like to sync this app like the rest of my apps.

Ridiculous to require Dropbox!

I had been happily using Reunion for years, easily syncing computer and iPad weekly. Then Dropbox entered the picture. Ridiculous to pay over $100 a year in addition to the one-time cost of Reunion. (Free Dropbox account is unusable since it has a 3-device limit.) MacFamilyTree is harder to use but I’m trying to learn it. Cloud sync makes it the winner.

An sich gut.

Benütze Réunion schon sehr lange. Gute App. Einfach zu benützen. Nervig ist nur, dass eine Synchronisation nur über Dropbox möglich ist. Die Beschränkung auf drei Geräte ist heutzutage inakzeptabel.

Like it

Really like being able to show a tree chart on screen and then immediately share it via PDF.

Needs more syncing options

What is wrong with this company that they force a user to use Dropbox, and not iCloud? There is no excuse for this!

I do not understand how a company that has always been an Mac/iOS company refuses to support iCloud syncing. I don’t want Dropbox installed on anything I own, yet I’m forced to in order to use an otherwise great app (MAC and iOS.) Another update, and still no iCloud support! Still no iCloud support! It’s been a year since I wrote my initial review. The app gets updated and yet still no iCloud support. I had reluctantly installed Dropbox just for syncing my file from my Mac. After recently discovering the dirty tricks that Dropbox in doing on the Mac , I deleted it completely from all of my devices. So now I have a useless app since the developer will not support other syncing or manually transferring your files.

Brilliant app but needs to be more independent of the Mac OS platform

I have used both Reunion on my iMacs and Reunion Touch for many years but I am now trying to wean myself away from the Mac OS platforms as the independent iPad and IOS platforms are so powerful. What I would love to have is the ability to create my family file directly on my iPad by importing a standard gedcom file but I cannot do this in the current version. Once established I can then sync the family file to my Dropbox version as now. Apple are building very powerful iPads that are capable of doing most of what one once needed a Mac computer to do. Else maybe you could build a new IOS app that has all the features of the Mac version. I would be happy to purchase that.

Update available soon?

I recently updated my desktop version of reunion to version 13. Since then I am unable to access ReunionTouch on my iPad. Is there an update coming soon to support this?

It’s OK

The interface doesn’t match the desktop interface at all.
On my iPad Pro, the task switcher bar interferes with the bottom toolbar.

It’s good for reference, but not good as a data entry tool. It’s just too hard to work with after using the desktop app.

Why?

I’m disgusted that Reunion FORCES you to use Dropbox at about $20 a month. I’m horrified that if you delete something from Dropbox it deletes it everywhere. I can’t afford unlimited internet let alone $20 a month for an app I don’t want. Bring back plugging the iPad into the Mac, or Bluetooth or ANYTHING other then Dropbox!

Cannot switch Family trees

Long-time Reunion user. User interface needs to be made more intuitive.

Otherwise, the app seems to work fine.

Good start

I’ve been using Reunion for years and it’s great. When the opportunity presented to use ReunionTouch on my iPad I couldn’t resist. The drop box reliance was the only extra annoyance and something I hadn’t used. I really didn’t want to sign up to an extra service. I would like iCloud support option . Everything works although the search function could improve.

Adds a whole new dimension to genealogy research and access!

I love this app! Since I was an early adapter to Apple and have been doing genealogy research for over 30 years, I started using Reunion right from the beginning. Having the versatility to bring my tree everywhere I go AND UPDATE IT, is huge! Honestly, I access it at least a couple of times a week when I’m out and about and run into someone with a familiar name or connection. I just updated to Reunion 12 and am having some issues relinking to the newer file, but I have every confidence in the Leister company to help me through as they have for decades. Thank you to them for always being ahead of the game and for keeping up with this amazing tool.

No iCloud

Very disappointed that you have to use DropBox and can’t use Apple cloud to sync. Decided to uninstall app

Dropbox Issue

Very disappointed that the app uses a third-party app (Dropbox) to connect to the software file on my Mac. My Mac is very old, but I was able to install the Reunion software and it works very well. However, when I purchased the app I learned that I had to use Dropbox to get the file out of my computer. This is when I learned that Dropbox is no longer supported on my old Mac. I tried to email the file to myself and put it in Dropbox on my iPad, but the file converts to a ZIP file when emailed and is therefore unusable bu Dropbox. There are other ‘cloud’ options that are much more efficient than Dropbox. I find it very disappointing that this is the only option that Reunion are prepared to use.
