About

Rhotacism is a speech sound disorder that makes it difficult to pronounce the /r/ sound correctly — and it affects millions of people worldwide. Traditional therapy helps, but progress is slow when feedback only comes once a week in a session. Rhotacism App changes that. Record yourself saying a word, and the app analyses the acoustic fingerprint of your /r/ sound in real time — measuring the exact frequency that separates a correct /r/ from a /w/ or /l/ substitution. You get instant, specific feedback on what your tongue is doing and how to correct it. FEATURES • Four therapy levels: Initial /r/ (red, rabbit), Medial /r/ (forest, orange), Final /r/ (car, floor), and Consonant Clusters (green, three, friend) • Real-time rhoticity score after every recording • Targeted coaching cues — not just "try again," but exactly what to adjust • Session progress tracker showing your last 8 attempts • Level-up system that advances you when you hit 3 consecutive scores above 80% HOW IT WORKS The app uses AI speech recognition to verify you attempted the target word, then analyses the third formant frequency (F3) of your /r/ sound — the single most reliable acoustic marker of rhoticity. A lower F3 means a more correct /r/. The result is displayed as a score from 0 to 100% alongside the raw Hz measurement and a specific technique cue. WHO IT'S FOR • Children and adults working through rhotacism with a speech-language pathologist • People who want to practice between therapy appointments • Parents supporting a child's speech therapy at home Note: This app is a practice tool and is not a substitute for professional speech therapy.
