About
Riesgo País App tracks Argentina's country risk day by day, with its full history since 1999, and compares it with seven other Latin American countries. Plus the dollar: Argentina's seven exchange rates and the currency of every country in the region. In English and Spanish.
THE CHART
• Seven days, one month, three months, one year or the full series.
• Touch and drag to read the exact value of any day.
• The history comes with the app: it opens instantly and then downloads only what's new.
IN CONTEXT
A number alone says little. Below the chart, the app puts it in perspective:
• The spread: how much more than the United States the country pays to borrow.
• Where today's value stands against its whole history.
• The range of the last year.
• How it compares with the rest of the region.
DOLLAR
• Official, blue, MEP, contado con liqui, wholesale, card and crypto, with their history: official and blue since 2011, wholesale since 2002.
• A second line on the chart: each rate against the official one, and the official against the blue, with the day's gap.
• The currency of every country in the region: the real, the Chilean, Colombian and Mexican pesos, the sol and the bolívar. In Venezuela, the second line is the parallel dollar.
WIDGETS
• Country Risk and Dollar, in every size, on the Home Screen and the Lock Screen.
• The dollar widget shows the rate you pick with its second line, and the large size adds the same country's country risk.
• Light and dark mode, following the system.
• Touch and hold it, then tap Edit Widget to choose what it shows and the chart period.
EIGHT COUNTRIES
Argentina, with daily data from Rava Bursátil. Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela, with the monthly average published by the Central Reserve Bank of Peru. The country you pick carries across the app: the chart, Economic Freedom and the dollar.
ECONOMIC FREEDOM
The Heritage Foundation's Index of Economic Freedom, with 32 years of history (1995–2026): each country's score, its world rank and the components behind it, from property rights to financial freedom. Drag across the chart to see every component in any year.
IPHONE DUO
Closed, or open in landscape, the tabs and buttons sit in the column on the side, like in Apple's own apps. Open, the two columns split right at the fold.
WHAT IS COUNTRY RISK
It's the extra interest a country pays to borrow, compared with U.S. Treasury bonds, which are taken as risk-free. It's measured in basis points: 100 points equal one percentage point. The benchmark is J.P. Morgan's EMBI index.
No accounts, no ads and no tracking. The app only downloads what's new and checks country risk only during market hours, so it uses very little battery and data.
