About
Developed by Paarthiv Somesula, a high school student.
RipplePond was built around two simple safety problems.
First, when something goes wrong, families and close friends often do not know who is safe, who needs help, or who is nearby enough to respond.
Second, even after emergency services have been contacted, there can be a stressful gap before help arrives. RipplePond helps alert trusted nearby people during that gap so they can assist you in the time before emergency services reach your location (they can even guide or inform the emergency services about the nature of the issue once they arrive).
With RipplePond, you can create private ponds for family, close friends, classmates, travel groups, or other trusted people. When someone starts a ripple, pond members can quickly mark themselves Safe or Unsafe. If a member marks Unsafe, trusted pond members can see important details such as their shared location, status, distance, battery level, alert reason, and saved emergency contacts.
RipplePond can help nearby pond members check in, call emergency contacts, get directions, and coordinate support until professional help arrives.
Key features:
- Create and join private trusted ponds
- Start safety ripples for a group
- Mark Safe or Unsafe quickly
- Share location during active ripples and direct Unsafe reports
- View nearby pond members during alerts
- Save emergency contacts for trusted members to call during an Unsafe alert
- Receive push notifications for ripple and Unsafe updates
RipplePond is a student-led project created to give families and close groups more peace of mind when safety matters most.
RipplePond is not a replacement for police, ambulance, fire, medical, rescue, or other official emergency services. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.
