Robot Reading is the rare app that “teaches the way schools teach “. We love that it is distraction free, researched based and engaging for little learners! Help build early literacy skills and a love of reading.
Great Start to Phonics
I used this app in the summer leading up to my little one starting school. It makes learning fun. They loved building up the robot. It really helped them learn the initial sounds. They made good progress and looked forward to playing their game. Things were tricky to start but soon became easier with practise. They are looking forward to doing more.

This app is amazing for supporting my child with learning to read. It has been so well designed and incorporates the science of reading effectively. It isn’t just another reading app - this actually helps to build real code knowledge in a systematic way with explicit instruction. It’s an awesome tool to have to support their learning and it makes the whole process more fun and engaging. My son has loved using this app. He loves the design of the different planets and characters which helps to keep his engagement. But the design of the activities is what is so clever. It provides real opportunities for practice at the individual sound level, word level and sentence level. There is a great approach to the teaching of “naughty” words which lines up to the evidence of what is best for teaching these kinds of words. I also love the writing practice with the letter formations. My son loves showing me how he can write a word. It’s so motivating for him. Overall a great app and it is well worth the investment.

Fantastic reading app
I second the previous reviews. The teacher lesson function is fantastic and easily allows the lesson to be specifically targeted to the concepts we’d like covered and for students to continue to practice.

A Must-Have Tool for Supporting Kids’ Reading at Home
With a background in speech pathology and primary teaching, and now as a father of three primary school–aged kids, I’m pretty picky about learning apps. Robot Reading has been a pleasant surprise.
The phonics approach is clear, well structured, and builds skills logically step by step. I like that it focuses on the fundamentals, letter sounds, blending, and early word reading, without overloading kids with flashy distractions. The activities feel purposeful, and the repetition plus immediate feedback really helps concepts stick.
From a parent’s point of view, it’s easy for children to use independently, and the robot theme keeps things light and engaging without taking over the learning 🤖📚
I also appreciate that it’s ad-free and stays focused on reading, which is refreshing.

Reinforce foundational reading skills
A bright, fun and engaging way for kids to learn and practise the various phonics and early letter formation skills they need to start reading (and writing) with confidence. By using letter-sound correspondences to perform identification and sorting tasks, and blend and segment regular words, they will build automaticity without even realising it, because saving Planet Orth from terrible Tron is so motivating! With a clear sequence of age-appropriate activities, and immediate feedback and encouragement, this app is evidently informed both by reading research and teaching expertise.

I bought robot reading for my grandson who is in kindergarten. He is loving making the robots move, and learning how to read. He is also writing letters with the paper and pencil tool. He loves showing me how it works. I am very pleased with the high quality of the app.

My 4 year old is starting Kinder next year. She loves this app and she is clearly learning. It is really helping her to form the letters properly and she can actually read words like ‘sat’ now. It actually works. Really recommend

Amazing app for developing reading skills!
Our daughter has loved engaging in the different activities. Each activities has a great progression from the last and introduces each skill in a gentle way that will encourage any emergent reader!
